I just bought a 97 SHO and I love it but the SES light came on and it said I need to replace my #7 plug or wire. I figured I might as well do a full tune-up so I was wondering if all the wires and plugs are under the cover of the motor is this hard to do and what kind of plugs and wires does everyone recommend. Thanx

That's simply a bad coil. Replace the coil and it'll run as good as new.

Coils are numbered this way:
firewall
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
front bumper

I've got a bunch of coils on back order at NAPA here in Canada. Got them for about $60US.

As Ian said, sounds just like you'll need to replace the COP (coil on plug) unit... these cars have no spark plug wires BTW. If you're going to change all the plugs and you've never had the top part of the motor off on the car, set aside the better part of an afternoon and look at the instructions on v8sho.com. I think a majority of people are simply using Motorcraft plugs... either AWSF32FM or AWSF32C.

If all you're going to do is replace the one COP unit, then just remove the appearance cover and the IMRC control unit and you'll have full access tot he front bank of plugs and COP's.
