just thought i'd run some things by you guys, will be doing a little tune up work on the 95 in the next week.

So far i think i've come up with a pretty complete list that shouldnt break the budget, but i just wanted to get your opinions first.

Transmission fluid change: I've seen threads about flushing the ATX before, i plan on doing it myself (i wont dare let a shop do it). What kind of fluid should i use, where's it available, how much should i buy and how expensive will it be. Also, are the filters easy to come by as well?

Plugs and wires: not taking any chances here, gonna stick with motorcraft plugs and probably wires.

Valve cover gaskets: can i just pick these up at any Advance auto parts or murrays?

O2 sensors: Have been getting a code for my rear most O2, i'm just going to change them out now since they've got a lot of mileage on them. How much do these things usually go for?

EGR: i think my EGR just needs a good cleaning, got a code relating to it, i'll probably just clean it, and the intake, out during my VC gasket install.

How much do you think this will all run for? Any problems coming across any of these parts at local stores (plugs, wires, O2's, VC gaskets, transmission fluid/filter)?

Thank you for your opinions, and i welcome any helpful tips when it comes to servicing the transmission as well the seemingly large amount of disassembly that i'll be doing during this.

1: ATX fluid job: filter and gasket are like 14 bucks. I use mobil 1 full synthetic ATX...5 bucks a quart...u need 13 quarts

2: plugs and wires from Fordpartsnetwork...99 for wires...23 for plugs

3: gasket set from autozone is cheap

4: o2's from AZ are 45 each

atx flush is easy...warnings are look out when taking the old filter off...sometimes it leaves the sleeve in place.

thanks michael :) wow, i forgot how expensive those wires are, but if i'm not mistaken, they are the best to use for these engines.

I rented the A-Z o2 socket and my rear o2 was a breeze, did it in 10-15 mintues...on an ATX no less. without that socket it would have been near impossible.

On plug wires... get the $50 AC delco wires. Many on here are running with them including myself and they're great!

DO NOT get anything other than Bosch O2 sensors. Believe me... I know

this may be a dumb question, but how does the EGR valve remove from the intake?

I removed a bolt near the bottom of the valve, and removed the nut and weird looking "support" tube...

but the sucka's on there tight...i want to removed my intake, and so far, that EGR valve..and just a few coolant lines i havent gotten to yet, are all thats left to do.

It might have gotten gummed up and stuck on there. I remember there being the 2 nuts; one on top and one on the bottom. Be careful, don't break the egr tube.

Yeah, I remember the top one being a long hex looking thing. And then just a nut on the bottom.

alright, that seems to be where my problem is....either i need more muscles or a bigger breaker bar cause this thing just does not want to move...even after a few good coatings of PB blaster...

It looks to be a 12mm, and the wrench i have is pretty puny...hopefully i have something lying around this house i can use...

i dont think i can dare make one more trip in the 93 for parts :oogle:

yea, i got the intake and the front VC off so far, the EGR is just kinda...off to the side, the tube still seems to be securily attached to the exhaust (yea, a secure EGR tube)

You can get good leverage on the two bolts that hold it to the manifold by using a couple long extensions and a universal joint.

ok, i know this has been beat to death in the past, but i've ripped my intake apart and now have a question, most of you will probably already know what i'm about to ask...

bbbuuuutttt...

should i leave the horns out? I've read through countless old posts, some saying that they lost a noticable amount of power, others saying they gained top-end..and others that said they made no difference when dynoed with them in or out. some say they're there to enhance performance, while others say they're function is about the same as the silencer cone on the outer air box, just to quelch noise.

any new insight?
