I've been driving around for four days now with the TSB done and it makes a world of a difference. The car shifts smooth and no bumps since. I am considering not flashing it again because I like how the car drives right now.
Tough choice between more pwer and possibility of tranny issues or leaving it like that... Good for you that the TSB 11-5-6 worked, for me I still have issues sometimes when dowshifting with paddle shifters from 3rd to 2nd... it gives a harsh bump, almost like if it was going through Parking before shifting down... ouch! I don-t know what can be the cause and it was already doing it before I start flsahing it... I wish someone else would experience the same and knew what is the problem so it can be fixed...
Enjoy your car Bill!

Bill, I wonder if Rick has a program that won't modify the trans shifting/torque management?
Might be worth a pm to him.

Glad to hear it's running better for you.

I spoke too soon. Stage 2 is already on the car :) I will give it a few days and see how it does. It might be just as smooth as stock but with more power.

........and not so much torque management.

Maybe it's the excessive torque management of #3 & #4 that is upsetting the tranny .

Just a thought.
G/L and please do let us know how the car runs form here on in.

I am also receiving resistance from the dealer on doing the transmission tsb and called the svt hotline. They said the 11-5-6 tsb was superseded by 11-8-21. It read about the same as 11-5-6, but was released in August 2011. I haven't been able to find it online, but I let the dealer know of the new one to see if they would help. The guy at the SVT hotline told me to request a Field Service Engineer to come out and look at my car if they still won't do the service. I just want my car back and fixed right. I really hate the Buick Lucerne that they gave me as a loaner. That car is horrible and cost $30k-$43k retail new. You can get a used SHO for that kind of money!

Actually, you probably mean the fact that there is no torque management in stage 3 and 4 ... And indeed it is a litlle harsh on the tranny... that is why it is at your own risk if you drive it every day... Also depends how hard you push the car, because when cruising, stage 4 is not ******* the tranny... only under WOT... But once you tried it, man, it is hard to go down after... !

Yes you are correct Steve -- I mis-spoke. The lack of torque management could be what's causing the issue.

After running the stage 4+ on my car for a week or so now I'm thinking that there's a little more torque management than on the stage 4.
Also there seems to be more power with stage 4+ than with stage 4.

Haven't really had it long enough to give an extensive evaluation but those 2 things come to mind after this short time.

I must say I like it more than the Stage 4. In straight driving it seems to suit me better and feel better.

Track times I don't have but I can only guess that stage 4+ would be quicker and maybe faster than Stage 4.

Anyone got any track times for comparison?

Read my thread on comments on stage 4+, it's all in there, but all what you are saying are facts...
Cheers!

This is what Rick said about stage 4+

They are similar except the boost jumps up and stays a straight line through the power band, whereas the boost falls off up top on other stages. The 4+ also has torque management and the 4 does not.

Also just to update, I have not had a single bump or clunk since doing the tsb. The car has been driving awesome.

Very cool.
The 'wizzards' at Livernois Motor Sports (Dan and Rick) have waved their magic wands again.

I'm not surprised that the 4+ appears to me to be an excellent program. I likey a lot.

Yeah, so would I but I can't get it downloaded from Rick's e-mail to my tuner, it appears that my tuner is not working or something else is messed up since I am completetly at a lost to figure it out...seems like my computer won't open the SCT software to load the new tune...did I tell you how much I hate computers!

At least the last tune you had was stage 4, so you can still enjoy a powerful car until you find a solution... : )

I bet I know what the problem might be. The SCT tuner can't store another file on it, I had to drop the stage 2 file. You can choose whatever one you want, just dont wack your stock file.

Have you updated the firmware on your SCT Tuner recently? Latest updates were on 7-26-11.

Reason I say that, is that my Firmware somehow got corrupted the other day. Had to update, which meant going first to stock, and then re-loading the tune into the car. This solved my problem immediately. In your case, you can upload the tune to your tuner after upgrading your firmware.

Since this happened on my XC3 3400 for my GM- G8 GT, I am wondering if I will have the same issue when I attempt to either re-program or Data Log on my Ford XC3 SCT Tuner.

Had not updated the tuner lately, but downloaded the update today, but it wouldn't update the tuner...I'm completely lost with this darn thing and don't have any idea what to do or where to go, I need someone to walk me through because I'm getting a message that my device can't be found. This has become very frustrating, because I have very little knowledge of this computer stuff.

The first time yesterday that I attempted to update firmware in my GM 3400 XC3, it also failed. Just immediately hit update again, and it worked like a charm. Never hurts to try a couple times.

Good Luck!

I'll give it another try later, before calling anyone, but I will probably do that...even had Showgun on the phone helping talk me through it, with no luck...I gave up because it had my Irish temper up. So will try again in a few days, thanks for all the input.

Know how you feel.... My firmware apparently became corrupted a couple days ago for no reason. Wouldn't allow me to log. Let me attempt to do it, and said it was ready, but no data was transmitted or received. When I stopped it, I got crazy numbers on the fixed screen and then it wondered if I wanted to save them... Even my tuner was stumped. Updating all the Firmware and Software, as well as un-installing and re-installing LiveLink 6.4 solved the problems.... at least for now.
