OK, so I swing by Crown Ford today, show them the TSB and the Service rep kinda scoffs, says my car will need completly re-programmed, tells me that Ford has sent them the upload and that on the first car they did the re-program quit in mid upload and that they have not been able to get the unit back up and the car they were doing is completly dead, the owner has a rental.

Takes my name and number, says he will call me when they are back up, and that a rental will be provided while they have the car. Oh yea, tells me the other Ford dealer in town (Alexander) had the same thing happen days earlier and they are still dead in the water too. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Sounds like code for "We are lazy and do not want to flash your car."

Just dropped mine off today, the service writer was curious about how I acquired the TSB, a big thanks to way2evil and his website, seems as though it was the first time he had heard of it. He had no issue with queing my car for the TSB. Unfortunately since I didnt have an appointment it will probably be next week when it is done. Will update you guys when it is done. Hopefully they wont have ani problems with download.

update- picked up the car today after having it sit at the dealer for two weeks. Apparently the new separator plate was on national back order. The car seems more responsive, for example I punched at around 15 mph and it downshifted and barked the tires-impressive. I cant wait to see how it responds in cooler less humid air. All in all I'd say the TSB has cured the bump shift and overall responsiveness of the vehicle.

Good news. Very encouraging.

I was really hoping this was a one day deal because I would like to get it done asap. I will have the service advisor make sure he orders the separator plate before I take it in.

Mine is being updated as I type along with rear brakes. I'll find out the TSB for that when I pick up the car, but it goes along the same lines that was published here for the front brakes. My rear disks were wearing really weird. Looked like somebody was taking a steel comb and dragging it over the disks causing grooves.

Got the car back yesterday. There is definite improvement in shifting. Will have to wait and see if shifting issues are finally cured. Also had the rear brake TSB 10-17-10 completed. Brakes were making a little noise. There also appears to be a new TSB on the front barakes, 11-05-15. Not yet entered in TSB listing. All the paper work states is that they installed brake kits and machined rotors. TSB 10-17-3 was previously completed back in Feb/Mar time frame. So, it appears something was amiss in the original brake TSB. Sent Rick the updated strategy code for new tunes, looking forward to the tune again.

Um ok any advice? I am taking mine in tomorrow for this but the dealer wants me to do a test drive with them and try to replicate the issues. I've had both the harsh bump and the "car feels like it has 50 hp" issues with acceleration after first slowing. But I am not sure I can get it to do that on command and I don't know if they will do the repair if I can't.

We did a test drive and it didn't make it, but they read about the TSB 11-5-6 and didn't argue with me and it is being done tomorrow. That said, I noticed that it was making harsh bumps a bit more when using paddle shifter when going from 3rd to 2nd more than other ways... May want to try that...

Does a Ford dealer have to do this? Or can a qualified shop perform TSBs?

Dealer said basically "No replicate = no TSB repair." And after 20 minutes of test driving with them doing rolling stops I could not get it to do anything, so I left empty handed. They did give me a number at Ford to call but they won't be doing any repair at this point unless Ford tells them to.

This is the same issue I discussed in my thread "transmission event". I would get a harsh bump during downshifts, and had some sluggishness 0-20. Service manager initially said that he wouldn't do anything unless he could replicate the problem. I was able to bring some pressure on him from above and he performed the tsb without getting in the car. It sucks that so many fairly significant events aren't resulting in "codes" which would make things a lot easier.

Yep, I had the exact same issue....just went to another more friendly dealer who jumped right on performing another TSB. It's all about the dealer and if they need the warranty work/labor.

Well I will keep this updated with my adventure. I called the SVT hotline today and that was amazing, no "prompt **** menu" and in fact the guy who answered knew immediately what I was talking about. He said in short they should do the repair so he said oddly enough to either try another dealer, or, ask the current one for the number for their field rep and call that person. I'll execute those and report back...

I've been driving around for four days now with the TSB done and it makes a world of a difference. The car shifts smooth and no bumps since. I am considering not flashing it again because I like how the car drives right now.
