This is a post for SuperHO...

We went and looked at this '97 on Friday night, and the guy apparently bought it running like this, replaced some gaskets, "tested" the coils, replaced an injector and the injector gaskets. After that, I don't think it's been touched. He is selling it at an "investment" price, but after watching the stock market lately, I think the market may be a surer bet... :p

Since I've not heard a spun-cam engine, what do you all think? The flex pipe is off, so thus the wicked noise. There are different angles in the video...

Sorry if this is a repost somehow, I can't find the one I posted Friday, before the forum went down... :oogle:

I wish I could hear the valvetrain over the exhaust. Is there any way to hook up the flex pipe and get another recording?

That's what I thought. It wasn't bad until the guy tossed out at the end as we were leaving "Well you know, I have had a couple of other people look at it, so..."

...right- pressure works. :p

I think I may have found another SHO for the **.

Speaking of Bennigans, When do we go back for another donutty sweet, raspberry jammed warm love pillow filled with meat and cheese?

Wait- nobody mentioned Bennigans- I can't stop thinking about this damn sandwich. Good thing I found this...

Directly quoted from said car's Craigslist ad....and you can see how it caught my attention..

Beautiful 1997 Ford Taurus SHO - (True SHO - 3.4L PERFORMANCE Engine) - only 81,*** miles, great leather interior, satellite radio, power moonroof, premium sound and wheels. Car starts, idles, and drives but has some issue with the engine that makes it run rough and have very little power. I replaced the plugs, cleaned the intake, replaced the injector seals and 1 injector, and replaced all the intake gaskets but there is still something up with it that makes it not 100%. (maybe one of the coils?) The compression is good on all cylinders and there are no cracks or leaks, oil is clean, tranny good. If you're a mechanic this is a great opportunity to make some money. Blue book is about $5k and I have now reduced the asking price to $1999 or best offer due to deciding to get a minivan for the family (wife's choice, not mine lol). (please note exhaust was disconnected (flex pipe removed) in order to diagnose the performance issue so car is a little loud)

PLEASE EMAIL or CALL Bobby - (616) ***-XXXX...Thanks for looking!

$1999 OR BEST OFFER -- MUST SELL

So needless to say, I was drawn in. Joe already told the tale.....however, he failed to convey the true deep fried tastiness and the food coma that resulted from this...
Deepfriedhappy

that's right...it's a deep fried ham, turkey and cheese sandwhich with Mayo, Buffalo wing sauce and raspberry preserves surrounded by fries. We both watched as my beautiful fiancee took a tentative bite and promptly proclaimed that it "tastes like a donut with meat".

Yeah...good stuff. So it goes without saying that I'm going to pass on that black SHO......:theyareontome:

Awwwwwww.....joe's smitten by the valley girl waitress we had...that's so sweet!

We might could try to organize a lunch meet at that one or the one in the zoo...but let's wait a couple of weeks. For a few reasons, actually...first and foremost, i'm still trying to get my heart rate and blood pressure back down from that greasy pile of happy. 2nd, I need to wait till payday so I can afford the gas to get up there AND induldge in 3000 more calories in one sitting.

When I was in High School long ago I had a friend that worked at Bennigans and he told me there was an inside name for the Monte Cristo. It was Heart attack on a plate. They sure are delicious though.

Actually, now that this thread is TOTALLY off track, the best (worst?) sandwhich I've ever had in my life was at the first restarant I worked in back when I was 16. We called it a Chicken Cordon Bleu...but it's not like you're thinking....

First off, we made our own sauce for it, which was basically pepper mayo mixed with melted swiss cheese and had even more swiss cheese shredded throughout it. We'd slather a healthy dose of that on top of a hand breaded deep fried boneless chicken breast and serve it normally with seasoned fries....

You could actually feel your blood pressure climb as you ate it....but oh, was it good...:dribble:

by me its know as the heart stopper. anyway i dont know how prices are for you out their but sho's are way cheaper out here it sounds like. i got an almost mint 97 with 90k on it for 1500. their are 2 green 97's within a few miles from me in nicer shape than my car but a few more miles for 2000. ones with any issues tend to go for 1000 or less. i was at a dealer a few weeks ago and he had one in the back with a bad tranny for 500. motor looked good and had around 100k.

Joe, sarah just banned me from ever eating one of those again. Apparently, she wants me around without a quadruple bypass having been done in my early 30s.....

I was thinking more along the lines of a straight piped Harley, but yeah, I'm pretty sure this thing munched a cam....or two....
