I'm thinkng of getting True Duals with the same configuration as Ted B. explains on Shotimes. But do you still need to get a Y-Pipe for that setup? Also, I just got my clutch replaced and when I do a high revved shift and push the clutch in....it makes a wierd noise like a spinning noise or something I'm kind've concerned about this b/c my last clutch did that and i wasnt even very ******* it. My last clutch went FAST and made the same noise. Any feedback on what that might be?

True duals are a waste of time and money! Is it a spinning noise or a buzzing noise. If it's spinning it's a TOB but probably not a failure some of them tend to spin but it's not great but should hold up awhile. If it's a buzzing noise it could be from the clutch pedal. Thats what I found in the 92. And sometimes in the 90 when I'm lazy on the shift I get a spinning sound.

The clutch pedal does buzz when i get into high RPM's. But I dont understand why the TOB would be doing that. I just installed the new ceramic TOB, along with a new spec clutch for it. I have however heard that the ceramic TOB's do make some noises

To do true duals you have to do some design work to make it fit under the car. And, unless you are supercharged, and it won't perform any better than using a y-pipe, and possibly even worse. The design of the y-pipe actually helps pull exhaust out of the opposing bank.

As for the spinning sound... sounds like your TOB. Is it only when you push the pedal in? And, is there any noise at an idle, or just revving in neutral?

Is it spinning when your letting the clutch back out after a high rpm shift? You know clutch out 7000 clutch in SHIFT clutch out SPINNNNNNNNNNN? If so thats pretty typical.

Yes, It spins when I have the clutch in and when I'm letting it out.....It doesnt only do it when I'm in the middle of romping on it either(It wont do it when its in neutral either)...It'll do it for hours after that...It really concerns me because I just got the clutch and TOB replaced!

Does it do it at idle in neutral (clutch pedal released)?

careful what yall say about true duals. one guy here has em and he claims a 20hp gain. the truth was told on the dyno. he dynoed at just a hair above 200hp without an air filter. with an air filter, it was 199ish. similar numbers to that of sdpatts stock motor with Borla exhaust.

personally, fitting true duals under a Taurus is a task in itself. and with a well designed exhaust (performance y-pipe, larger pipe, better mufflers), youll get all you can from the engine.

If you are talking about Artesia then yeah he supposedly say 201hp though I havent seen that dyno. Though he never did a stock dyno so he doesnt know what the stock hp was and what the difference is. Also I think he uses like 17% loss anyways.

yup, thas the guy. you think hes a ***** online, try dealing with him in person. complete Jekyll and Hyde personality oniline vs offline. he sold the SHO with true duals to a guy on the basis that it dynoed over 200hp. he didnt inform the guy it was dynoed without an air filter.

he also didnt inform the buyer that it had some type of lubrication issue and heavy weight oil was required. the new owner did what most would do, change the oil. he changed it using Mobil1 5w20 and within a week, the motor locked up.

Ok, having owned true duals myself, here's a couple of thoughts.

1) Ted's correct, with a PROPERLY designed system, it can be beneficial. However, it's not easy to find the proper balance.

2) The more power you're making, the more beneficial the setup can be for you.

3) I doubt anyone's going to convince me (without hearing it first-hand) that a true dual setup sounds anything remotely like "good". Mine sounded like 2 Geo Metros without mufflers at 10,000 rpms at wide open throttle. Maybe more like a night at the dragstrip when they're allowing the snowmobiles.

4) Less is more, especially for a naturally-aspirated attempt at duals.

5) A Y-pipe will likely be easier, cheaper, and just as if not more beneficial, depending on your car. A good Y-pipe can support serious power - I made 395 to the wheels on my blower SHO with a Performance-Plus Y-Pipe WITH CATS. They flow air. That said, I did find more power & tq on that setup with the duals afterward.

Best of luck!
