I have a '93 with a blown motor and a new tranny. I found a '95 with a good motor and a blown tranny. Will the tranny from my '93 fit the '95. If I had to guess I would say that it would. They are both ATX's and both of course have the 3.2 I'd call the local dealership, but anytime you mention a SHO, most of the service managers and such don't know the difference. Your help is much appreciated!

Is it a re-built 93 tranny? If it is not, I'm not sure if I would do it. IIRC, 93 Trannies are junk.*runs and hides*

Someone who is more familiar w/them may chime in

It's a brand new tranny, not even 25K miles on it installed directly from the dealership about 15 months ago. (in the '93)

As far as I know all the ATX transmissions 93-95 are interchangable. However, there are differences: the 95 and maybe the 94 is a totally different transmission than the 93. But, any transmission that has been rebuilt or installed in the last 3-4 years should have all the updated internals. The weakest link of a 93 ATX tranny is the forward piston (they made it out of aluminum).

However, all ATX SHO trannys are still weak. They really benifit from a TransGo Shift Kit and a larger tranny cooler.

I have the AX4S (95 transaxle) in my 93, and i love it. Much stronger and firmer shifting than my 93 POS transaxle. although i may say that the D4U1 is an essential upgrade for anone wishing to do the swap. i would hoever not recommend putting a 93 transaxle in anything! it is nearly useless, and unless severely reworked not of much use to anyone on this board. i hope to soon get a new tranny cooler and the Trans-Go shift kit installed on my tranny as soon as it's time to do a filter and fluid change this january...
