Well, I got a little info for everyone.
Transmission died out on me in the middle of a 200+ mile trip from Chicago, IL to Grand Rapids, MI.
Ended up being the front seal blow out and that drained all of the fluid and the heat messed everything up in there pretty bad.
The complete rebuild, new dual disk furnace brazed torque converter, transgo shift kit, new selenoids/pistons/fluids/seals, various other items the mechanic mentioned is going to put me back $2369.08.
Anyone have any experiences similar to this, and what was the outcome of it ... a rebuilt transmission = much better than stock, or just as good?
