I’m trying to decide what the best course of action is regarding what I believe is a failing transmission or torque converter.

Basically, I’m experiencing frequent shuddering and the occasional grinding noise from the front of the vehicle.

What leads me to think it’s the torque converter is:
1. When I recently added some shudder fixx, it did get noticibly smoother
2. I’ve been monitoring my trans temps and it’s quite regularly in the 200-212 range which if I remember correctly is higher than it used to be.

If I do go down the route of replacing the torque converter is that something that requires any special programming or is just draining the fluid, dropping the transmission and changing the part? Anyone happen to have a DIY/video on this?

But if it is the transmission, is that something that I’ll be able to tell with the torque converter out?

Thanks for any input.

In the South.
Yup. Definitely shows the same symptoms as my dead TC. When I had my TC replaced I also had them just rebuild the transmission while they were in it.

@LilCop2002 thanks, do you know if there is any software or programming involved with the TC replacement or is it just a matter of dropping the transmission and replacing the part?

This is the part number I was able to find: da5z7902a
