ok so i bought a used tranny with 120k on it, the guy said it shifted SMOOTHLY. i had it put it in correctly and now it i guess has trouble going into 2nd and sometimes 4th gear, it feels like it hits a wall before it goes into the gear could it be tranny fluid or did i get screwed over buying a pos tranny from this guy

does it shift smooth when its off, with the clutch not pushed down? this way you can eliminate the worn synchro theory

i bought it from a guy from the forum, and yes it shifts smooth when im not moving, i was thinking maybe it could be that my linkage is slightly bent because last tranny was stuck in 3rd, so i tried to un-stuck it. and also the tranny was stored for 7ish months before it was put in

Then it's probably not the tranny or the linkage, but the clutch.

well i replaced the clutch a while ago but i did have to do some serious clutch killing to make it move in 3rd to get it to the tranny shop, so thats prolly my issue?

I will say that the clutch is your problem, my 94 had the same issue, broken strap on the pressure plate. As stated before, if it shifts smooth when car is off, you have clutch issues. Good luck

I had that problem and getting a new clutch made it a lot better but it was still hard to get into 1st and second, these trannys sucked to begin with.

sounds like a worn out TOB/PP fingers. If they are worn, it won't release correctly, makes it hard to shift.
