Tranny Problems

Hey guys. Recently, the tranny on my 89 acted up. It seems to be stuck in second. The shifter moves around really easy and has alot of play in it. It feels as if you can shift into other gears but it doesn't. It just stays in one gear. So what seems to be the problem? Please help.

Sounds like you may have broken one of the cables in your shifter. Jack it up, put it on stands and crawl under to access the shift points on the transmission. Have someone move the shifter and watch the levers. If no movement on either, that cable has broken.
