I have a 93 ATX , replaced the tps just as the car died due to crank cancer, I just got the car back and it has no throttle response at all!!!! Everything motor wise checks out but I have a feeling about the tps , I had to reorder it cause autozone sold me the wrong one... turns out my atx had an mtx tps sensor originally ( from a 92 but that was my build date ) and it operated perfectly until I put the atx version on ? I even checked voltage does not work at all, anyone here knows if replacing that sensor properly will bring back throttle response? also an mtx tps on an atx?

example if I'm at 30mph and stomp it the car will not down shift and just slowly builds up speed same goes from a stand still , I'll floor it and the car will go slowly then build up speed still shifts fine, transmission was replaced 12,000 miles ago and worked absolutely flawless.

Btw: check engine light is on , have not had a chance to pull codes

test it with a meter by putting the ground lead on the battery nagative and the positive lead in the middle pin on the tps , turn key on and see if you got voltage and if it goes up smoothly as you turn the throttle up . you should see .97 (should be at idle) and 4.5 -5 v max (wot)

the old one has dead spots , new one reads all over the place no where near the .96v , will have a new one tomorrow just hoping this could be the culprit and I don't have another issue

the EEC will learn the idle voltage, so it's not important to get the idle voltage as close to 1v as you can... just bolt it in a go.

I would check the wiring harness at the EEC.. Just fixed a car that had kinda the same issues you are having... found out that a couple pins on the harness @ the EEC were out...

Just another place to look.

Also, I have been given bad new parts... so don't rule that out yet either.

just pulled the codes this morning :

123 TP is/was high or short to power - TPS

The car will not give me a 111 code so I can run the KOER test , but so far all I get is 123

glad she's back on the road! :thumb: sorry I didn't see this earlier or I would've also said to get a new TPS. I have seen more than one bad from the factory. You can't ever assume new parts are good!
