Thanks everyone, yeah I am real pleased to be back involved over here as well. This powertrain brings its own special qualities to the equation for sure !

Next track run I'll hit the ground a lot harder then this past time, it was more for data analysis and calibration purposes then raw ET / MPH.

Wowsa, if that is running stock boost and just with a tune, that is killer.
I looked up road test summary results, and there are no V6's at any price tested by R & T that beat this time in the 1/4.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/download/1009_rtSummary.pdf
The only faster 6 banger is the 911 flat 6, at close to $100k.

The B8 S4 runs a 13.4@106 with a 6mt. DSG is supposed to be a bit quicker I think. 3.0 supercharged v6, 333hp.

The 335i runs 13.5@105 with 6mt. 300hp 3.0TT I6. All wheel drive ones are about the same.

Obviously the ET is much better with this tuned SHO, but trap speeds are on par with MANY cars a stones throw away in price.

The tuned SHO is already faster than all those other 6's you mentioned, and this is his first tune and first time to the track. THe SHO is a much larger and heavier car and he didn't push it yet, like they do in the road tests; he'll easily be in the 12's with a better launch. That ET also beats the $100,000 ttV8 Bimmer int the 1/4

Thats awesome!! For just a tune, that is amazing. How much tweaking to the stock settings did you have to do? Wat else do you plan on doing mod wise. Anything major?

Can't wait to see some more times. :)

You obviously didn't read my post. I already said the ET was faster, but not the trap speed. Look at the trap speeds. And while the SHO is certainly larger on the outside, the interior space isn't much larger than the new A4 except maybe rear seat legroom. I couldn't even fit comfortably in the SHO, and can in the A4. Oh and the S4 is 4000lbs.

The SHO will easily be in the 12's with downpipes and exhaust and a retune.

I'll be on the bandwagon when I see 12's consistently w/o shit breaking left and right

I think that'd be pretty cool to take a second off with a tune and still have a reliable car to beat the snot out of...

I guess that I don't see an issue. Knocking a second off pure stock times (Kirk ran in the 13.60s yesterday with only 500 miles on his) is NBFD. Tom Wallenhorst runs mid-13s with his NOS '93 ATX and drag radials, and doesn't break stuff.

Turbo cars are different. 2.5 liter LGT AT cars are in the 12s with stock turbos.

Trap speed is meaningless; who gets there first is the only thing that matters in the 1/4; and with a 450 lbs disdvantage, the stock boost level SHO V6 still easily outruns the S4. Let's give credit where credit is due; a great powerplant and the fastest V6 out there. IF someone were to pull off 450 lbs of fat from the SHO, it would have far better handling, braking and accelleration than it does now. No need for downpipes or exhaust for 12's; just a better launch, and when he ups the boost probably will see mid 12's,

I pulled this up from Car and Drivers review of the Nismo 370Z

PRICE AS TESTED: $40,630 (base price: $39,850)

ENGINE TYPE: DOHC 24-valve V-6, aluminum block and heads, port fuel injection

Displacement: 226 cu in, 3696cc
Power (SAE net): 350 bhp @ 7400 rpm
Torque (SAE net): 276 lb-ft @ 5200 rpm

TRANSMISSION: 6-speed manual

DIMENSIONS:
Wheelbase: 100.4 in Length: 174.3 in Width: 72.6 in Height: 51.8 in
Curb weight: 3340 lb

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 5.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 12.5 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 25.6 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 5.8 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.7 sec @ 105 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 157 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 163 ft
Roadholding, 200-ft-dia skidpad: 0.99 g

obviously the Nismo would probably run rings around the SHO on a track, but the SHO is the same price and will keep up in a straight line. not bad! Kind of impressive that Nissan squeezed almost as much power out of a 3.7 as the ecoboost has, but to be honest I'd rather have the Ecoboost. Gobs more useable torque, and I'll bet the Ecoboost hits 400hp way cheaper/more easily than the VQ does.

well the 370z is also in a whole other class than the SHO. the Z is a 2 seater sports car while the SHO is a 4 door 5 seater family car. Not really right to compare the 2

That's ridiculous. Why don't you compare it to the ZR-1 while you're at it?

Edit: Also, the 370Z only has 50 lb/ft more torque than an ATX does. I don't care what horsepower looks like, that's crap. The SHO has 100 lb/ft on the 370.

I drove the Nissan powerplant in a G37 and it does have a lot of horsepower for NA, but I dont care for the sound, and it is rough when revving in the higher RPM's compared to the Yamaha which is like butter in comparison.
I'd take a TT ecoboost anyday over the Nissan. Somebody will eventually transplant an ecoboost from a wrecked car into a lightweight sportscar chassis, and that will haul ****.

Holy sweet god, imagine how this would be if you could go to RWD only? You know Ford would have to up the price just because it goes faster! LMAO
