Torque specs for subframe....???

I left my Helms manual at my moms house.... Can some one look up the torque specs for the sub-frame bolts?

I think the manual says 85ftlbs....but I torqued mine to 105

Just for anybody else searching for this in the future, my 89 Helms manual says 65-85 ft-lbs for the subframe bolts.

My 1995 ford service manual says to tighten all four sub-frame bolts to 75-102Nm(55-75 lb-ft)

Well, to be honest, I torqued the subframe bolts on my old '97 to 85, and they still clunked around. After I brought it the shop to get an alignment, they told me that they needed to retighten the bolts, as they were not tight enough. I would go over 100ft-lbs to be safer. Or, crank em down with a breaker bar until you can't turn them anymore

I heard that a few people with the aluminum subframe bushings had problems with the subframe slipping once in awhile when torqued to the recommended setting. It was recommended to torque them to 105 ft/lbs.

The two cars I've installed these bushings on I've torqued to 100 with no problems. A word of warning though, I used NEW bolts when doing this, so if some of you attempt to torque your older, rusty bolts that high, they may break, and you REALLY don't want these to break, especially the fronts. I wouldn't go much higher than this though, since 105 ft/lbs is A LOT higher than factory specs, and all I'd risk.

Any time I do subframe work on a SHO I don't know about I buy new bolts just to make sure they don't snap later.
