There are links on the chain that should be marked somehow. My repair manual says they are painted white??!! Basically, you need to line the marks on the chain with the marks on the cam sprockets. Do this, and you can be assured that the cams are lined up.

Simplified:
2 square timing marks on the shaft part of the camshaft. Those oppose each other, 180 degrees.

One ID dimple on the cam sprocket. That lines up with the square mark on the cam.

Two "white" (brighter than the others, on ONE FACE ONLY of the chain) links, which line up with the other marks.

It's easy to be off 1 tooth on the white link part.

Good luck, and may #6 be the ticket.

Hey guys, the other day i was running through my head. When i was putting the top left spark plug in i heard a pop when i was starting to tighten it, and i was puzzled and wondered about it until this morning. Well......i pulled it out and the porcelan was cracked :bonk: and when i put it in my hand the porcelan fell into pieces. Needless to say i put another one in and the car is running like a dream again. thanks for you help guys! :thumb:
