Well, what I did with mine was got a lint free cloth and just wiped everything out gently. Took me a few minutes as I wasn't harsh and didn't want to remove the coating any more than I had to. But, with a lint free cloth and some patience mine looked brand new when it was done.

I used STP brake parts cleaner. That crap works great on just about everything. I picked it up at Autozone for like $4. It comes in an aerosol can and works great on everything (including cleaning your hands after you are done). It not abrasive at all, and it did a great job taking that black crap off the throttle body without doing any harm. Best of all, the stuff evaporates quickly, so if you use too much on something, it cleans itself up. Hope that helps.

Well, sounds like you need to dissasemble your intake and completely clean it. That is what I did when I cleaned mine. That sticker only applies to the TB itself, which unbolts from the intake. The whole intake does not have a coating and can be a bear to completely clean but is worth it in the peace of mind you get afterwards. I just cleaned the TB itself with the rag, but that worked on mine not saying it will on yours......By the way what is the year, tranny, and mileage of your SHO?

Berryman's B12 carb cleaner does wonders for that gunk built up in the runners, surge tanks and TB. It took me about 10 cans to clean my entire intake. You can purchase it at any auto store including AZ.

Personally, I don't worry about the "coating" and just go to town with carb cleaner.

If you are worried about the coating, Gumout makes a special throttle body cleaner which is made specifically for use with coated TB's. About $2.99 at your favorite autoparts chain. It's in a gray-ish colored can.
