Ok, I replaced the thermostat in my 1993 MTX. I thought it was not functioning correctly because when the car would idle after driving on the highway (50 degrees) the temp gauge would rise to n-o and then the fan would bring it back down to the middle. When I would drive the car it would be in the middle of the gauge. I replaced it with a 180 degree t-stat from AutoZone but the one I pulled has a 195 stamped on it and it has no jiggle valve. It also looks new, is this the Robertshaw performance stat SHOtimes mentions in their cooling article? Should I stay with the 180 thats in there now or go back to the 195?
P.S. when driving now the gauge stays around a-l is this normal?
