I am replacing the thermostat in my 93 atx. I took the two nuts off the top and bottom of the housing, it is really loose but it feels like the top is stuck on something. I'm pretty sure its no silicone holding it on. Is there something I am missing? I thought I would ask before I brake something.

ok, nevermind, I figured it out for myself. Now I have a new question. How important is the big o-ring type seal around the thermostat ring. and if its real important where can I get one. everyone says a gasket isn't made for that anymore

You could do one of two things. Either check in with a Ford dealer and see if they have that o ring. Or you could try and use one of those gaskets in a can. Last year, I got my t-stat gasket at a dealer.
