I've been watching a channel on YouTube where a Tesla Plaid takes on all comers. Modified Vette's, Demon's, stretched bikes etc. etc. Basically the guy has to feather the go pedal to keep from getting kicked out of the track for running too fast of an ET without a cage. He runs low 9's all day long with ease so basically anything that is RWD and a realistic street car he destroys. And he'd be even more dominant on the street than at the track too. So in 5 years if our SHO's are still on the road basically any putz that borrows his wife's minivan will bl0w our doors off if it's AWD and optioned out right. The average 4 x 4 pick-me-up will do the same. SAD!!! This is really the biggest thing that bothers me about electric vehicles.:mecry: Where does this all lead over the next decade?

Imo there will eventually need to be a separate class for ev's at the track. That day may be sooner than we expect

The Plaid straight hauls ***. Would I buy one? Nope. For the money of a Plaid I could buy an AMG GT R. Like all performance EV's they are awesome, but they have no soul.

Back in my days of R/C car racing I was an early adopter of a brushless electric 1/8 scale buggy. There was one other guy who also had an electric buggy, and for about 3 races we raced with the nitro 1/8 scale buggies. But then they decided it was unfair because we easily pulled away from them coming out of corners and when landing from jumps AND we didn't need to stop every 5 minutes to refuel like they did. Although a battery swap took MUCH longer than their refueling, so even our 1 battery change during a 15 minute main event more than exceeded their time from the 3 fuel stops.

Wow, must have undersized his fuel tank. I don't think my Ofna's ever ran out in under 15min. Totally agree that electrics have been and always will be faster, ballon tires in 1/4 of a second. Nitro IMHO only ever had the advantage of longer driving, but were just fun. The 3 speed Schumacher would hit 100mph back in 2005 could roast anything today, provided the tread stayed on the dern thing..

A guy had a modified Plaid at the track two weeks ago and it was crazy fast. He gave a Mustang that runs 10.00 the light and ran him down, it was pretty wild to see. . He made maybe 6 passes and drove it back home 45 minutes.

The price isn’t too bad when you consider the fact that it can beat cars that cost much more!

I've seen plenty of cars (that cost more) that can beat the Plaid. Though for the price of the Plaid vs those that can beat it, it's a steal!

True...however it would be a complete ***** to drive a Pro Mod cross country and through the mountains...lol.

Same with a Tesla to a point. I drove from Texas to Michigan and saw two Tesla’s on the side of road! Operator error no doubt but a Tesla wouldn’t be my first choice for a cross country trip.

Hence, why I would buy an AMG GT R if I was going to spend that type of coin.

At that price point, I am sure it is not noticeable but there is a $40k difference in starting price. That is a lot of recharges on the Plaid. Or a SHO for long trips and the Plaid for DD.

Battery recharging is definitely something that is currently needs to be monitored during a long trip. We had an accident on the freeway were the last town was 60 miles away. The Tesla in front of us was fine for the first hour,. But since everything runs on the battery A/C, radio, computer, etc, they were forced to turn around before their charge died and would not be able to make it to a charge staion. Which, once the traffic started moving, was even further in the direction we were heading. Things you just can't plan for.

Maybe someday we will have power to the roads lanes or wireless power and that problem will not be any issue.

I would never buy a new GT R. The deprecation is too much. A 2018 is roughly the same price as a PLAID.

This is the channel you're talking about and it's pretty nutty how fast the Plaid is: https://www.youtube.com/c/TeslaPlaidChannel/videos Dragtimes channel is pretty legit too if anyone cares to see that.

I for one look forward to the upcoming electric rides that are about to hit the market and my personal choice would is the Rivian R1S since we are thinking of getting a 3-row SUV. Lucid Air was recently approved to over 500 miles of range, so the range anxiety argument gets tossed out the window.
