There is a stainless steel rod (3/8"dia. x 1.5") that is part of a 94 ATX idler tensioner pulley. It's where the automatic tensioner applies pressure to the pulley assemble. Mine has fallen out twice now and I'm wonder what is suppose to keep this baby in place? Is it suppose to be press fit into the assemble and mine has just worked itself loose? I don't see any sort of retaining mechanism in the design. The last time the pin was rattling around in the bottom of the engine crank cover making a lot of distressing noise.

it is a press fit into the asm. if it fits snug but works out, you might try some red loctite or some epoxy, or a safer bet would be to get a new tensioner asm.

rubydist,

Thank you so much for the quick response. I suspect it was a press fit but I wasn't sure.
