Hey guys,

I've searched the forums, Google, Youtube and alldatadiy (which is pretty worthless), but I am unable to find the torque specs for the assembly-to-engine bolts. ****, I even searched through the taurus club of america site.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the nut that retains the pulley, but the bolts that hold the whole bastard onto the engine.

and this one

At this point I feel like I've stripped threads on two bolts so far - following the info from a thread I found in the forums. Please advise, because none of the torque-stickies seem to have this info.

I can't find my SHO supplement car shop manual or I'd post the tq number. However, even though this is not an immediate answer...you will need one and it should have most of the engine assembly/disassembly info with diagrams and most tq values.

Get a used one from ebay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-FORD-...007933?hash=item469e355c7d:g:5SQAAOSwzQFdj~3L

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1980-1989-...389450?hash=item1f04cadb4a:g:WwYAAOSwA75eFfm6 there are several to choose here you have to scroll to get the right one red cover price is $15

This is for the rest of the car (share with reg Taurus) SHO specific is in the supplement book above

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SHOP-MANUA...134337&hash=item35ed57d00a:g:LSwAAOSwqBpaTYNu

These are very valuable for DIY. They are '89 and '90 but the cars changed very little between 89-92.

I’ve got that one too. Doesn’t have assembly-to-engine, only retaining nut for the pulley.
I thought it was on there, but you are right it is just the main bolt. Here are the pages from the Sho Engine Book. itwonder has a link to it that I will post on here later.

@zoomlater - Thanks man, you nailed it on the pdf download. There's a page from the 1989 SHO engine book (which I forgot about until just now)- that deals with the assembly and installation of both drove belt tensioners.

In the manual it's page 108, on the pdf it's page 78.

@luigisho - Thanks for those ebay links. I ordered several manuals last night.
