When my sho is not moving and is standing still my engine temp will rise to the h then the fan will kick on and in about 60 seconds it cuts off and drops down to normal.when the car is warmed up if you are sitting still it takes about 2 or 3 minutes then the temp starts rising.I dont think this will do damage but i dont know?it has done this since i have owned the car.I have already put in a new radiator and thermastat.should I try red line water wetter.Has anybody had succes with this? :

One of your two temp sendors is bad. I would change the cheap one first which is for the temperature gage. If the readings did not change them I would change the other sendor which is for the PCM input.

will it hurt the engine if I do not change the sensor?I guess what I am asking is the temp of the engine hot or is it the faulty sensor giving bs readings. :oogle:

Ford guages are noted for being very inacurate. On my thunderbird which had the same problem as your car, there was a small resistor on the back of the guage cluster that looks sort of like a 9-volt battery that was bad.I am quite sure that all fords have this resistor. It may be part of the problem. Why not temporarely install a mechanical guage to see exactley what temp the fan comes on at,then you would know to be conserned or not.
