If your temp never gets to the normal range or fluctuates, it's either a bad t-stat or more likely the gauge sending unit, which is right near the t-stat.

This part is like 5 bucks, and should be changed whenever you do a t-stat. They go bad REAL fast, and it causes the symptoms listed above.

My SHO rarely reached the L also. It usually stayed between the L and the end of the temp line. But now i just got a new radiator put in and my car heats up a lot faster and it runs warmer in the city. Confuses me.

lemkea,

If your car is fitted with the 180 degree thermostat, that is quite normal. If you have the 192 degree T'stat, it may not be fully seating. As long as the gauge stays above the lower tick mark in the NORMAL range, then your temperature is normal. Watch it to make sure that the gauge rises into the normal range when you drive. That is what gauges allow you to do, watch for changes in the behavior of your engine parameters. There is no idiot light to tell you when your car is running too hot or too cold.
