Taylor Wires or Another Brand?

I need to change my spark plug wires. Taylor's used to be really good wires, but I'm told they're crap for SHOs now.

Can anyone confirm or deny that?

What wires would you recommend?

Anyone have a source for Motorcraft wires (I know they're not manufactured anymore)?

Taylor should still be good, otherwise shosource.com wouldn't be selling them.

I broke with tradition and five years ago went to Advance Auto and bought their product. It was brand name "Xact" spark plug wire set #2964.
They fit correctly, and I have had no problem with them.
They were less than $50.00 .

Over the years, I have bought them all, and only had a problem with a company named "Beldin". I had paid top dollar for them and had the intake removed to ensure a good install, and it still went to crap. Although the company did a full refund, it still soured me on the big name products at full price.

I use OmniSpark from O'Reilly. Both my cars have them. Cheap and do the job. Had to warranty out a set while at the Fort Worth convention but changed them in the parking lot of the hotel and continued on my way.

I think folks often change out wires unnecessarily. They are quite dependable in my experience. Of course, it all depends and YMMV. 25 years and 265K miles - on second set of wires; Motorcraft. The originals are still serviceable and could be put back on.

Yeah, wires are extremely reliable, but it was a really screwy problem I was having and I had to cover all my bases. The spark plug wires ($125 Motorcraft of eBay) fixed one problem, but I found another problem at play (bad wiring). Once it's replaced, it should fix the problem. Wiring issues are **** to track down.

Bad Wiring Harness from Alternator to Car

Symptoms
- Car cuts out while driving, similar to a crank sensor or cam sensor going bad
- Tachometer flutters a bit (one or multiple quick drops) when car cuts out

Solution
- Replace wiring with stock SHO wiring from parts car. The wiring harness had gone bad, and the plugs and wiring weren't helping since they were old, too.


Bad Wiring Harness from Battery to Starter

Symptoms
- Car starts only sometimes or doesn't start at all. No cranking, just dash lights, as if there's battery power but no juice to the starter.

The wiring from the battery to the starter was malfunctioning mainly because the previous owner decided to use amplifier cable instead of a standard battery cable. And it's possible jumper cables were on the wrong posts once and fried some of those wires. I know I've done that before, accidentally.

Solution
- Replace wiring with stock SHO wiring from parts car.
