My Tach is sitting on the wrong side of the 0 rpm stopper post. Anyone know how this could happen.
I noticed this after I brought my 90" in for some body work and they told me they drove it. Hmm. Is there any other way this could happen other then redlining the f'in **** out of it, like a bad battery??:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Any feedback will be appreceated, as it may affect whether I go to jail or not.

thats weird, unless the post is broken?!?! and it would have to hit like 14K rpm to make it back around?!?! maybe the cable was broken and someone replaced it and when they did the tach needle got pushed forward towards the steering wheel enough that it would clear the needle and go behind it....

go out and rev it decently high and see if it snaps back to the correct position.

Yeah, The only way I've heard of that happening is pushing it to realllly high RPM's... I'd question the shop, I have a feeling they were joyriding your car.

The easiest way of getting it back on track is revving it up to a really high RPM and it should snap back into position. I wouldn't rev it in neutral though, I'd keep it in first and take it up to the high RPM.

I agree, just run it to the rev limiter and it should come back. I also recomend not doing it in neutral. Maybe 4th? lol

I had the same problem with my '90 when I got it. Revving it up doesn't work in any gear. I had to take the dash apart and fix it. it sounds like a lot of work but it can be done in about 20 minutes easily. I just pulled the needle over the pin, its fairly flexible, and worked just fine, still does. Good Luck!!:thumb:

um if you want to do it easy, and if you dont really care to much this is what idid. i bought mine and the tach was behind hte needle. i have heard revving it can fix it but i had just bought my car for 200 bucks so i didnt wanna just slam the motor. i drilled the smallest hole i possible could in a hard to see place, stuck a curled paper clip through and flicked it back up. if you wish just put a tiny peice of packaging tape over it and it will look pretty good. i know its not the prettiest but it damn sure works and i havnt had a problem since. taking the dash apart did not sound like fun to me. if not just hammer it through third :)
