Started my 2016 yesterday and my Sync3 head unit failed to power up. I had no functions on screen , completely blank. I drove it home and restarted car after 5min and unit was back to normal. was going to call dealer but the problem is not there now:mad: Anyone else experience a similar issue with there Sync3 head units failing to power up?

I had the same issue...started lagging here and there - one day it was blank.

Apps suck on this unit - slow and just not really reliable so I just sync my phone...but then I get random Bluetooth disconnects .

Simple power cycle fixed (on/off) the blank screen. I also noticed my 2016 has an outdated version of the system. Haven’t done the whole USB upgrade thing since I have one other pressing issue on my end with a misfire.

Currently have Sync 3 Version 1.0 Build 15139

Nothing plugged in , i just started it as normal and screen failed to power up. Been driving it all day today with no issues. A friend of mine in his 2017 explorer experienced same issue randomly . Ford told him to factory reset ,which he did and it did happen once more. Its been couple months for him now with no issues. I guess ill have to wait till its a constant problem then take to Ford (hopefully it does it while still under warranty).

Is it the original battery? Three years on an original Motorcraft lead acid battery is typical. When mine died the first symptom was failure of the entertainment system to boot up "to save battery power". I keep my SHO on a Battery Keeper all the time now since I don't drive it that much. Also switched to a Diehard AGM battery to prevent cable corrosion.
