Has anyone with a 2016 with the sync 3 version 1.0 received an update for the 2.0 version yet? I heard rumors that the update would come before the new year (2016) but nothing has changed yet. I am connected to wifi on a regular basis.

I just did the update to Sync 3 2.2 - I used the method detailed on some of the other websites. Plugged the USB in, waited 25 minutes while driving home from work, and bango! Android Auto works. If you want to use Apple Car play, you'll have to upgrade the USB hub.

This should work: http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=3881&pid=100870

Beware, if you brick your system, I'm not sure what Ford would do - but so far I haven't seen any reports of any problems.

It all just works - My NAV system didn't work the first time the new Sync booted. But it did the next time I started it - PHEW.

Yea, I want to be able to use apple CarPlay. Maybe I'll just contact the dealership and tell them to fix it. They told me it would update to the 2.0 automatically

It may never. Ford has pushed the release back at least twice, and because it requires a hardware update for the Apple side of things, I wonder if it will ever really happen.

Changing the hub is easy, I've heard it costs around $60-70. The hub is on the same assembly as the USB ports - pull it out, and replace the entire thing with the new hub.

I do have to say though, with the Android Auto, and Google Music, I can tell it to play anything - and I mean ANYthing (with exceptions of course). What an amazing thing.

Unfortunately I know nothing about when the SYNC 2.2 update will be available. You are correct for Apple car play to work you will need a new media hub. The new hub is to be installed AFTER the update according to the GSB for the Lincolns.

If you have your SYNC system connected to home wifi it should update over the air when the update is available. It it not necessary to use a USB unless the car is not connected to a good wifi connection. If the dealership makes the repair, it will be at a cost to you.

Some interesting news is if if you have 1.0 like i did, and your APIM took a dump like mine did, the new module may be at V2.0 when you get it back.

I have a love hate relationship with android auto. Yes i can talk to it and it will play Pandora, Its map search is way over SYNC's and now I can listen and respond to text messages while driving (this can be very entertaining on what Google thinks i say) but i don't like that I cant have it control my ipod unless I go back to sync. the steering wheel controls still got back and forth in the songs. Also every time i get a phone call and end the car it drops my ipod (nano latest generation) and goes back to FM.
