My strut and spring project has been moving along, and I've been using my trusty Ford shop manual to reserach the project looming ahead.

In the shop manual when it shows the exploded view of the strut, spring, and mount assembly, it shows NO insulation between the bottom of the spring and the strut plate... eek! is this really the case?

Is that really SUPPOSED to be metal on metal?? huh

No there are only spring isluators, little rubber rings that fit on the bottom of the spring. Replace these if you never have before, they will more than likely be cracked.

The strut mounts have rubber. No separate insulators for the front top. There is an insulator for the rear top and bottom (plus the two rubber vibration dampers inbetween). In the front you just have the lower insulator pad.

If you can't find one you can put the spring on the strut without the insulator. Having one is preferable though.
