Well...what I thought was a fuel pump problem turns into ignition NO GO...ran fine with no issues for 1 hour of the trip..stopped for gas..cranks, but no start..rpm gauge bumps up to around 500 while cranking..Had a code sheet in my glove box...ran codes..

126..cid

211..PIP circuit fault

219.. Spout signal default

542..fuel pump circuit

Had a spare DIS module in the trunk..swapped it out..no start

Have what seems like good pressure at the rail..good shot when depressed

wired a ground directly from l/h lower DIS mount screw to neg battery post..still no start.

pulled out the fuel pump crash shut off sw..cleaned plug and reset...no go

I have a spare cam sensor and 2 coil packs and another DIS mod back at home that I can get here in the AM..or is it the Crank sensor..?
Funny thing is, that I'm at Canadian Tire..no parts in stock..quoted me 3 hours @ $79 labor and $83 for the sensor..not horrible, but ...these guys are ok for tires, but..i wouldn't let them work on my lawnmower...might have to suck it up and cross my fingers...Thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated...!!!!

fuel pump keep priming? I was thinking maybe a ccrm.. but if the fuel pump was still priming i dunno...

You make it sound like it wasn't by checking the impact switch and checkin the fuel rail.. ;)

Eric to the rescue again....

well...was sitting there for almost 3 hours screwing with everything...just thought i'd take the fuel cut off impact switch out for giggles...i'm really not sure it isn't a fuel problem..that pump is awful quiet, but there is pressure at the rail...??? No fuel smell under the hood..??

I had a code 219 in my first sho. It turned out to be the ignition module. I tested the wires and did every test I could perform before I replaced it though. It fixed my problem. Put the other module in.
I doubt you'd have one, but make sure the module isn't from a CA emissions car. I have one (I think) and the car will run for a few seconds and stall.
If there was a pip circuit fault I thought the tach wouldn't read properly?

By ignition module, do i presume.the DIS mounted to the intake..??

On a side note, when I ran a ground wire from the lower dis mount screw, my alram horn started sounding off...that thing hasn't worked in almost a year...???

lol I think that ignition circuit is all tied in with the cid and cps IIRC... but I think thats fed from that CCRM isn't it? With the hood up and your head out the window.. I beleive you should be able to hear it click when you turn the key forward to run.

CCRM..IRCM..i'm going dizzy reading..is this the relay that sparks up the fuel pump?? where is it located..??

if i pulled a plug and it was dry/wet, i guess that would rule out a few things

OH...one last thought...there is a 95 atx at home in the bone yard intact...is that relay common to both atx/mtx..if so, i"ll give my brother a call to go and pull it..a realtor getting their hands dirty..would love to see that..

That's strange that when you ran the grounding screw that happened. You might have a short somewhere.
I was talking about the dis, I thought you said you had a spare.

Have fun, I haven't been to a ***** bar in years.

Back...nothing worth watching there..2 BIG girls on stage..better beef up the floor joists...lol

Well..i really can't say i hear the ccrm clicking..can't be sure though...i hear the fuel pump kinda prime when the key is turned to on...when i pulled the codes, the first time, the check engine light was really dim, but the codes flashed bright,,I did swap another DIS in..had a spare in the trunk..the car did run with that one when i pulled it off because the connector case was cracked

why not just pull a plug wire and jam a screwdriver into it to check for spark? surely you know that method. also, if the CID is broke, it'll still give it spark, just at the wrong time. i'd start there.

I just had this happen, check the ground wire that is attached to the front right strut tower frame, check the crimp that connect the wires wires. It is not one of the green grounding spots. Mine were corroded and that is all it took. Undo the crimp, clean the wires , recrimp and that should fix it if that is the issue, So simple it made sick. If you hear a buzzing sound when you have the key on, then this may be it. Try having some start the car while you wiggle the wire around, if it starts and then dies because of you moving the wires around, you have found it.

by the by, code 542 means the car stalled at some time or another since the last time the codes were cleared.
