I got a 1993 ATX and blew the stock jbl subwoofer it had inside. Now it rattles crazy style. i dont know what to do, put an aftermarket sub inside and play with the size of the box or try to find a factory one and just replace it. If so, is anyone willing to sell a working stock subwoofer or tell me some place where I can order one?

You can replace the current sub with 8". It will fit in the stock box, with some simple cutting and imagination.

A lot of people have done it on here.

I took out the stock box and put in my own box using the same bolts and screws, but instead of using an 8" im using an Infinity 10".....it worked out great !!!! At first I used the factory amp (Still sounded close to stock....) That got kinda boring so I upgraded to 500W.... :thumb:

I found a 6.5" sub woofer, it was at an electronic store that carries alot of car subs and whatnot. Now, I have to think of the name. Because of the small size, you don't get that house rumble, but it definately gets r done.
Maybe it was premier, i can't remember the name. BY the way, I believe the sub speaker is 6 ohms. That may make a difference, the one I got was 4. It works, but I also upgraded all the other speakers to alpine. Nice improvement.

i have kinda the same setup as SmyleySho.

im runnin a Rockford Fosgate P1 10" sub in the STOCK box, off of a 600w lanzar amp...sounds great, and it actually rattles stuff in my car......its just as loud as my old 12" i had in a truck box with the back against my back seat, and MUCH louder than my old 10" mtx in the corner of the trunk box.

If I still got the stock subwoofer in the car, and its blown and rattling crazy style, would it sound better if i just disconnected it, or took it out, caz right now even with the bass turned down all the way, it still sounds like sh*t.

Here is what I am using in one of my SHO's.

It sounds decent, but the stock box is very limiting to performance.

I will be building a box and upgrading to this: Polk Momo 10"

The Cerwin Vega 8" is being put in another box and installed into my white car.
