95 MTX car shifts great 75,000 miles it has the stock shifter that a rod shifter And the bushing look good not cracked or missing but in neutral the shifter does not move freely if you pull it left it stays and same when you pull it right but not as bad. It feels like It needs cleaned and greased. Have you seen this. Thanks

There has to be a fix for it I'm changing my MTX Fluid later today and going to see what's up with it. I got Royal purple Max ATF going to give that a try over Mobil 1 ATF.

Just changed the transmission fluid the fluid that was in there looked to be synchromesh due to the color smell and viscosity. I had no problem shifting before just wanted to change all the fluid out to synthetic and the royal purple feels good in the trans I will know better in about 500 miles or so for the real test. Bit I used a suction pump from the parts store and wow it was so easy.

I used the small black line to suck up the fluid and it pulled out all 3 quarts easy just had to maneuver it and push it all the way down to the bottom. Once it was I there deep I never had to adjust her move it it took all three quartd out no problem a must have.

So there is supposed to be a pair of springs inside the trans that return the shifter to the 3/4 gate when its in neutral - one that pushes from the 1/2 gate side and one that pushes from the 5/R gate side. However, I have had some of these transmissions apart that didn't have the spring on the 5/R side, and I have had at least one apart that didn't have either of the return springs. I don't know if they got built differently at the factory or if someone had them apart in the past and didn't put all the parts back in, but its certainly possible that your trans is missing one or both of those springs.

Well that might answer my question wow thanks. I'm still going to check the rod shifter for something usual but it looks like you may have found my problem. Thanks
