My 91+ is acting up during starting which has never happened before. One night I parked it and came back out 30min later to find that the engine would start but not before it hit 1000rpm then the tach dropped down to 500 and dieseled for a couple of seconds then shut off. It did this a few times and when I tried to give it gas it killed the engine. After a few times I tried to start it and I am missing the all familiar fuel pump whine when I turn the key to on yet this time it only cranks and the check oil level light is on (but has full amt in pan). I pulled the codes and got 21 25 & 95. I have heard that 95 comes up anytime the engine stalls. Where should I look from here.

You must have also run the KOER test to get the 25 code, "Knock sensor not tested (ignore if not pinging)." You may ignore that one.

But the 95 code is not the one that shows up when the engine is stalled. The 95 is described as "Possible bad fuel pump ground or open between fuel pump and pin 8 at PCM (Fuel Pump Monitor signal)." You most likely have a failing fuel pump. They usually fail when they are hot. After a long cool down, they may run just fine. For a while.

The 21 code, "Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor out of range," says that you have a faulty ECT sensor. These are quite cheap but not too friendly to access.

Yeh I got the 25 code to erase and that is the only one not recurring. The car has been cool for 5 days now and has the same symtoms. Is the ECT sensor mounted with the T-stat housing or near there? If I do change the ECT will it possibly take care of any heating problems I have? And is the check oil light legit?
