Too busy...
This is getting old. I went out to work on my 90 mtx this evening to try and troubleshoot my 22 and 87 fault codes. Replaced the baro sensor and went to start it to see if that got rid of that code and it just goes click, click, click. I'm thinking, how the heck did my battery go dead? Nothing was left on and it is only a months old battery. Anyway, I tried jumping it and it wouldn't work. I could hear it putting load on the other cars system and I was getting spark when hooking up the cables. I even tried tapping on the starter but no luck. So I decided to change the starter and found that yeah it was bad. There is a ring or collar or bushing or whatever on the transmission end of the shaft with the gear that slides all the way down to the gear. The starter also has a bunch of marks on it that look an awful (I'm about 90 percent certain)lot like it has been arcing off of something. shrug I was wondering if that bushing or whatever being bad could cause the engine to crank and crank and then bind up, like all the cylinders are trying to fire at once? Also, what is the correct wire routing? I am pretty sure that one wire came from the back of the starter to the rear lug on the relay. The positive cable went from the battery to the front lug on the relay and the negative cable went from the battery to the grounding stud that holds the starter on. Also, what does the wire go to that comes off of the positive wire by the battery? I think that fusible link is bad but won't be sure until tommorrow. Anyway, I replaced the alternator in case that was part of the battery being dead and I have another starter that I will put in tommorrow. Hopefully that will fix the problem but more than likely something else will decide that it needs fixed. Thanks for the help in advance.
