ok i cleaned the intake out and repainted it well the intake was a little loose and i believe its called a runner? the piece in between the manifold main pipes and the little cross pipes? has the round blockers in the 3 holes and a small canister on it...i didnt have the hose attached to the canister on the front one of these...what are they? lol also the hose that connects to the back right of the intake when looking at it from the front of the car wasnt hooked up...whats this? anyway it started but had a lot of lag in the throttle and if i left my foot off the gas it died...as long as i kept reving it to 4-5000 letting off then revving again itd run...did this for about 2min. tops and had it out of gear with the clutch in ...constant pressure on the pedal and itd die blew browmish residue in a liquid out of the mufflers im thinking it was excess cleaner (used gumout carb cleaner) anyway im wondering if its possible i did any damage to the engine? as well as what the 2 thing i left off are lol and i have to claim temporary stupidity on this one lol

Well the liquid is probably from the cleaning. Not sure about which hoses you are referring to. If everything is reattached properly you should be okay.

That sounds like the vacuum hoses to the secondary diaphragm valves to operate the secondary butterfles. With the hose off the manifold, you created a vacuum leak and let unmeasured air into the engine. It must have been running very lean, but it should be okey once you hook them back up. here is the correct routing for those hoses that I have posted before.

Hey Scott, do you still have that routing diagram? I think I pulled a dee-dee-dee move when I reassembled my intake this week.

(yes, I know this is a 5 year old thread)
