Today was the first day of owning a SHO. Wow just an amazing car. I bought it used. It's a 2013. It has 250 km's of factory warranty left and I just took it for a drive and there is a loud squeal coming from under the hood on the left side of the car. It only happens when going a bit...fast, faster than what the dealer will care to ride along for. It happened twice, once while accelerating and once while decelerating. I don't think it's a belt. Anyone else encounter this?

Welcome to the community, and congrats on your new ride! I should tell you, you bought a pig, and pigs ... squeal ... :nut:

If the sound only came while decelerating, I would have thought, possibly, a VTA mod to the blowoff valve was done. BUT, Ford doesn't clamp some of the turbo hoses properly (or some at all), so maybe there is a hose (or more) that need to be firmly reattached to the system. You should take the appearance cover off to check. In addition, there might be an aftermarket intake installed. For example, if one installs a K&N CAI, it amplifies the sound of the intake due to its' metal construction. The OEM air intake has a bellows-type construction, and it's supposed to baffle noise/sound. Check all clamps & hoses attached directly to it.

Get the car up on a lift or jackstands and check the control arm, tires, sway bar links, all the fun stuff just to be sure. Most of the problems actually happen on the RIGHT/pass side of the car, but you could have a wheel bearing beginning to go.

Thanks SHOdded! I hope it's not a pig. That'd be disappointing. You've given me some things to check. It has a factory intake, but not sure if any other mods where done. The speed required to make that sound is well above 100 MPH. Because of the speed I was wondering if it was air speed related. Almost like air being forced through a small hole/space somewhere, creating the sound.

Does the PP option show up on the list of options when inputting your VIN online? I don't see it listed, but I seem to have the other tell tale signs like no ACC, no spare tire, 3.16 gear ratio. I can turn disable AdvanceTrac and Traction Control, but I can't seem to put it into Sport Mode or at least it doesn't pop up on the display the way the manual says it's supposed to.

Yeah the 3.16 is a dead giveaway for a PP equipped SHO. As to the Sport Mode, very rarely, the factory actually leaves it out of the programming. But I am sure our intrepid members will help figure that out.

The sound could be caused by speed, as you suggest, but I have not seen any mention of it from anyone yet. Be sure there is actually a filter in there and if there is, that is clean and doesn't have a hole in it, etc. Clean the sensor attached to the air box with electronics/MAF cleaner while you are at it. The hard part to check is the little rectangular intake mounted to the front of the car going to the air box for restrictions.
