I've got a '97 SHO that has the speedometer stop working every once in a while. I had to replace the CV shaft on the driver's side due to a busted tone ring which obviously was one reason for the speedo to quit, but since then I have gone down the road at highway speed and the needle went from 75 to 0 and stayed that way until I shut the car off and restarted it. Any ideas what may cause this? I also have an ABS light popping on and off mostly in cold weather when I first start driving the car. I'm pretty sure that sensor reads off the tone ring as well. Could these issues possibly be related or is it just a bad ABS sensor? Thanks for your help.

I've had the exact same problem for about a year now. Happens real intermitently. It is definately something in the ABS system. When it warms up here I'm going to start with the ABS sensors and work backwards. It's most likely the ABS sensor, or sensors, or the ABS computer which resides directly under the battery. I've heard they are outrageous new, so I planned to start with the sensor and then find a used ABS computer if I have to.

I think I read somewhere that the front passenger ABS sensor is where the vehicle gets the speed intput from, but then again, I might be wrong. If I manage to get something worked out I'll let you know.
