So heres what happened today: story is gonna be short cause my daughter is bothering me for dinner... lol

stated the car up, sony display didnt come on, no backup camera, no audio, no media, no radio, nothing. It just didnt power up. restarted car several times, no change.

drove the car 20 minutes in silence. parked car. restarted it 2 minutes later, system powered up just fine. drove car 20 minutes, the sony system dies as I drive it! continued driving another 20 minutes or so, no change.

doesnt matter what I select on the dash, nothing powers up. the good news is the climate control works just fine, i just cant see what i set the temp at!

Where's the fuse for the sony system at? any ideas? any pics of where its at?

any and all help are greatly appreciated.

just ask for more details if theres any way I can help out more with my description....

It doesn't sound like you're having issues with the "Sony" system - audio, you're having issues with the information/navigation system. Did you by chance try the voice recognition to see if you could command various systems that way? That could help identify the issue.

Since it's intermittent, I don't think it will be a fuse issue, but maybe a loose connection. Your signature indicates you have a Lockpick installed. Seems quite suspicious that you probably didn't get something connected securely, or the Lockpick may be malfunctioning. You're going to want to uninstall that before visiting the dealer for warranty work on the infotainment system.

Fuse F14 (10A) in the Smart Junction Box is the fuse that provides battery power to the Front Display Interface Module (FDIM). It should have power at all times.

Nate,
Sounds exactly like the problem I had in my car. Started having problem about 2-3 months after the lockpick was installed. Chances are pretty high that the problem is the lockpick or the connnection with the lockpick.
I replaced my lockpick and it works fine now.

I think you guys may be on to something with the lockpick unit. I got in the car, started driving, and activated my rear view camera, let it run like that while I drove maybe 5 minutes, and i didnt have an issue the rest of the drive.

Ill email Coastal and see how their warranty is.

Ill report back when I figure anything out.

Those of you with the lockpick, did you do the install yourselves? Looking for some hints and watch out fors because I'm considering this. Don't want to break any clips or scuff anything up tearing it apart.

I unstalled the lockpick yesterday. issue has since dissapeared. I'll let coastal tech know and see what they do for me, probably nothing though.

The units appear to be cheaply built, the wire harness though does seem to be of good construction and will take some abuse.

I got an email and the service tech (carlos) is the same individual I spoke with on the phone a year ago, I am getting the feeling this is a pretty small outfit and he is the ony tech there? I could be wrong.

Now that I have done the installation 4 or 5 times, it only takes me 20 minutes to tear everything down and then put it all back together. Thats given I use a cordless drill with a nut driver on it for all the screws...
