the hinges do seem flimsy compared to any other car ive had, The oem struts and the replacement ones i bought because I thought the oems were bad both only hold the lid open until its like 80% open and then it will carry the lid to full open. a minor annoyance but my wifes fusion feels solid and opens completely from first pop, just kinda wish there was a way to get that on the taurus, i cant believe the PI cars didnt have something to fling the trunk wide open like they had on the old vics. now im nervous to mess with it as to not break the hinges. between the lid hinges, the trunk floor itself, and the rear view camera there is a lot of room for improvement in the backI added some higher rate struts to the trunk for the same reason. I wish I hadn't. It will break the plastic tabs on the hinges and it's harder to close.
