I added some higher rate struts to the trunk for the same reason. I wish I hadn't. It will break the plastic tabs on the hinges and it's harder to close.
the hinges do seem flimsy compared to any other car ive had, The oem struts and the replacement ones i bought because I thought the oems were bad both only hold the lid open until its like 80% open and then it will carry the lid to full open. a minor annoyance but my wifes fusion feels solid and opens completely from first pop, just kinda wish there was a way to get that on the taurus, i cant believe the PI cars didnt have something to fling the trunk wide open like they had on the old vics. now im nervous to mess with it as to not break the hinges. between the lid hinges, the trunk floor itself, and the rear view camera there is a lot of room for improvement in the back

Don't forget the backup camera sensors. Mine keeps popping loose.

Note - I have had the back bumper repainted 3 times, so that could be my issue. 3 different women backed into my car within 18 months, all of which the car was parked and I wasn't in it, all bumping it just hard enough to flake the paint but not damage the bumper itself.

It's that time of year again, and no body was left out under the tree. My SHO has a set of z37 brakes wrapped for Christmas and a spa day shortly after (oil change, tire rotation). What did you get your SHO for Christmas?

Can you post a picture of yours installed, or some info on how you installed them? I see that they're made for a Tesla and the pictures show what appears to be a washer holding them in place on the bottom of the strut. How were you able to lock them in place and is that placement adjustable?

I just swapped out for some stronger struts so there's no issues at the top of the travel but I'd like a little spring at the bottom (I.e.assistance when I first pop the trunk and resistance as it's closing in case my kids slam it). I'm wondering if something like this would work for me but I can't visualize how I'd install it.

She's got one of these waiting under the tree. She had one a couple months ago so it probably won't be used until closer to spring. Maybe after pollen season.40f68011fb2013a78a516fbf8b99f419

Nice! I'm planning a deep detail in the spring, old man in town been doing it for 50 years does clay bar and paint correction, plus he's family and a ford man.

@kryptto how do you like the R1s? Similar price point to the z37s I picked up

Nice! My guy is a little younger but he's pretty well known in my area and does great work. He does a lot of work for football players. Many years ago, my wife bought a Yeti and had it powder coated. He took the cup with him and had Luke Kuechly sign it. Then she had it sealed to preserve it.

Never used them, a long time member here on these boards was sponsored by R1 - hasn't been around - swears by them. Not doing calipers - looking to try out different rotors and pads to see how they compare without doing a caliper job.

Interested to know how they do, not going crazy with the car so stock calipers are fine by me but I was planning on doing the power stop set. Had them on 3 cars and loved em but I'm always open to different products.

I am being a contrarian I know @Ta2dResqr and others swear by the PS brakes, just me have to be different - has been a detriment at times to just do something else, but hey it's not like R1 has a crapola rep in the industry.

I can’t see the question please help
I finally did it..

I took the chance and finally bought the UPR dual valve catch can and the GH power package. I also just dropped in a new K&N air filter. Hopefully next week I will be able to install new OEM mufflers so my car doesn’t sound like $hit anymore since the guy took off the resonators & mufflers. Also I’m looking to replace my headlight bulbs to brighter led bulbs so What would yall recommend? Thanks!

I recommend not using LED. The housings are not made for them. You will end up blinding other drivers and poor output in general. The best light currently IMHO is Osram Xenarc Night Breaker Laser. It is pricey but you get what you pay for.

I got a day of overcast and coolish weather so I started doing the brakes. Car on jackstands, check, remove tires, check, remove front brake calipers, check, observe damage to both piston seals on both front calipers, check. Any tips on factory non oem replacements? Preferrably with next day shipping. I'm into napa for $200 for 2 remans and I'm not excited about it.

I am sure I am too late but there is always Powerstop. Try Jegs for some ideas

Powerstops are the next move for sure if these fail, this round had to stick with napa, powerstops wouldn't come in until Monday or Tuesday and I need the car for work by Tuesday. Kind of disheartening to buy Cheapo reman calipers because the piston boots tore. But the oil is done, rear brakes done, tires rotated, catch can had about an ounce in it after 4600 miles, and I changed the brake fluid, stuff in the lines looked like tree sap. Now to wait for calipers

But this weekend i wired up and bolted a winch to the push bumper

And i put the winch on bottom because i want to put a light bar on top

The Top Cop Z37s have great stopping power BUT they tend to squeak after they warm up, and they were howling for the first 1500 miles (just took the car on a 2500 mile trip) planning on pulling the wheels this weekend and double checking everything. I did the break in procedure to a T at the expense of my neighbors faith in my sanity (run to 45, stop, back up, repeat) but I also have a really bad growling noise under heavy braking that was there before the brake change too. light to moderate braking its smooth and straight, just a little noisy, heavy braking its still smooth and straight but the squeak from the front goes away and a growling gravely noise comes out of the back. anyone have this happen? still ironing out the kinks from the cars past life.

otherwise I fixed the rear camera and added some much needed trunk lighting. this weekend will be more brakes, forscan changes, and hopefully putting a floor in the trunk.
