I never said anything about horsepower. That formula is for mass air flow on a 3.5L engine. But if your boom log had significantly more flow than previous logs then that's definitely something that should be scrutinized.Using that formula I was making 50 HP more when I boomed than when I was on the Dyno lol
If your fuel trims are on point, injector data is accurate, and stoich is set properly then I'd contend it is more accurate than a maf sensor (which is also a calculated flow rate).yea especially since airflow #/min is a calculated value on these cars, it's not very accurate at all.

Yeah it's a decent rule of thumb absent any other form of measurement, but it's going to be +/- 10% at best and will be heavily dependent on ignition timing. compound it with the fact that peak airflow and peak horsepower don't necessarily occur at the same engine speed. If we were all to trust airflow estimations as horsepower figures then I should be able to strap my bone stock SHO on the dyno and put down >450 hp on pump gas. Obviously that's way out of touch with reality.But all of "your" examples showed it being within about 10-20hp of accuracy...... and most tuners also reference this same number.
Show me dyno comparisons that dispute accuracy with #/min and give me their error corrections.
Until then I would say #/min is just as accurate as a dyno...maybe more depending on which brand of dyno.
I'll give that a shot and let you guys know. I've beaten Scatpacks putting down around the same power (#s from the same dyno I had mine on) from a dig before, I'm thinking 450 is pretty close. I'm not seeing an airflow/# in LivelinkII, is there a specific name it goes by? If our cars were on the same dyno, they could both be wrong though.Data log it. Make sure you have airflow/# in the data perimeters. With those numbers we can extrapolate what your HP is. Dyno's can be inflated and deflated by the operator. True HP numbers come from the trap speed at the track.
450 hp to the tire without turbos and upgraded HPFP is a big number. Also throughout the years we have seen Torrie really isn't that aggressive with his tunes to get into that realm of power.

23% according to Ford engineers.Is it really 23% loss? I always thought it was more like 14%.
So with my bolt ons and tune, I should be making around 425 at the crank. So I guess I'm putting down somewhere between 327 and 365 AWHP. I like to think it's closer to the latter # but this is my DD so it's not that big a deal to me.

Is it just for this car/type (AWD) or in general? My old Mustang was dyno'ed at 475 RWHP by Roush. It was the 4.6L 3 valve V8 with the TVS2300 supercharger kit (phase 2) that was advertised for 550 HP. So in that case, I either had a 14% loss, it made more power than was advertised, or they overstated the dyno results.23% according to Ford engineers.

Roush would never inflate dyno numbers.
Dyno's don't tell the true story, they can be manipulated. Remember there are so many environmental factors as well. Heat, DA, Fuel Quality. The same car will not run as fast in Denver, as it will in Sonoma (near sea level) with everything being equal, nor will they dyno the same.
It is the instant TQ that our cars generate that keeps us in the game.That's true. And that's partly why I'm less concerned about HP in the SHO. My SHO would eat the Mustang off the line. From a 60 MPH pull, it would be a different race.
I don't go to the track. And I rarely get my car over 80-90 these days so for me, being able to embarrass something with more "power" at the stoplight is more rewarding than a high #.

what torque converter is that?I was so happy today I went over to the shop to check out the New transmission and New motor that came in last week and there was another f**king disaster.
Getting so frustrated I hear the only made the one Sprocket timing chain in the 2010 SHO after that 2011and up where all double sprocket timing chain. When I was checking out the motor I saw the timing chain on the new motor was one sprocket.
So now they have to send me another effing motor and my motor was supposed to be done next week start to finish. Now I have to wait around for another week for them to send me another new motor. Here's some pictures of the new transmission and the new engine which is wrong and picture of my timing chain sprocket and you can see the difference
