The BMW M2 competition is $10k more than the sticker price of my SHO. And a used C63 from 2012 is about $30k with 50,000 miles. Again, right around $10k more than I paid for my SHO used.

That was a big reason I stepped into my SHO, it was 10 grand cheaper, newer, and had less miles.

And actually an M2 comp is closer to 15k more than a PP SHO.... so again... your just supporting my statement about them being on overpriced sports cars marketed towards old guys as street racers

I bought my SHO for $20,900 out the door. It was significantly less, fully loaded, newer, and had less miles than the AMG cars I felt were solid and within my self imposed budget. Factor in insurance, MB maintenance, the MB AMG "luxury tax" and you just are not paying 10K to 15K more for a car. Also, Renntech is local to me as well. Add in tune and bolt ons......things can get out of hand.

I have put 10K into my SHO, and it is amazing, It turns just as many heads at car shows and people have no idea that it is a Taurus. Cheaper upfront cost, cheaper insurance, cheaper maintenance, cheaper aftermarket, cheaper replacement parts, and cheaper tune......the SHO still checks all the boxes for me.

I have a soft spot in my heart because I had a 93 MTX. I could have bought a 2012 AMG, **** I can go and buy a new one right now.

However it is not a good investment in my opinion. As soon as you leave the lot, you lose 30% instantly....on a 100K car...30K is a big hit. Most cars lose value year after year. There are some cars like an Aston Martin DB series that hold their value. You might be able to purchase one, enjoy it for 3 years and then sell it for the same price you bought it.

Honestly I will probably never buy a new car ever.

You say you chose it cause it was the smart move. But we all know if you had the disposable income for the MB then you would have gotten it, and don't get mad at me saying you don't make that much or some shit. There's a difference between being able to afford something and having the disposable income for it, i can afford to mod the SHO, if i had the disposable income i would have gotten a charger, no brainer

I already explained why I would not buy a used one or a new one. For the price I would have paid for a used Bi-Turbo AMG roughly 45 to 50K (I will only buy CPO MB), I have my SHO which is really nice and full bolt on (minus HPFP and turbos). I have a bolt on Focus ST for my daily, and I have a 2JZ GTE swapped IS 300 for less then the price of one AMG. I still spent the 50k, however between three platforms I have a variety of options that will cost me less and give me more fun in the long run.

Also, I really don't put very many miles a year on my SHO, less then 5K a year. If I bought a new AMG I cannot justify spending that much money on a car that would only be driven less then 5k miles a year and sit in my garage. A 18K value SHO yes, and 50K AMG no. I could make a decent amount of my money if I sold my SHO right now, I could not after just two years of AMG ownership.

I put almost 18K to 20K miles on my ST yearly, and I would not want to put that type of mileage on an AMG. I would completely lose my ass after 3 years of ownership while adding 50K in miles and wear and tear on an AMG.

I’m right there with you, I have a side by side a Nissan 240sx the SHO and a Jeep to pour money in. I bought the SHO for a fun daily to take long trips in and eventually give my son.

I make decent money. That being said, I want more bang for my buck and have my money work smarter for me. I would rather have my three different platforms than something I would just throw my money away on and would not drive as much. Also being in a large Metro Area I see C63's and G Wagons all the time. I don't see many SHO's, and none that look like mine.

Ford techs and people in service, told me that the oil in my PTU/RDU are lifetime, so I generally take what they say with a grain of salt.

Fortunately, my techs and service manager at the local dealer disagree and have my SHO on a schedule for replacements of the PTU and RDU fluid. I've already done the PTU at 8k miles and will do it again with the RDU at 25k.

Added my latest ricer mod, the "I'm 1400* when the engine is running" oil cap. $20 on eBay and matches my Spectre engine caps quite well. Still need to paint the coolant cap and install it.
