So what did you do to your SHO today!?

Yep SBS, these cars eat batteries. I know for a fact that my car has gone through three batteries in seven years. Since my isn't a daily anymore either, I keep mine on a battery tender at all times. This also helps when I "prime" start my car when it sits more then 5 days at a time, which has been a lot lately.

Im starting to worry as mine has a 10/2014 stamp on its motorcraft battery. Now that i actually checked the date on it

When I bought my 13 it had a Triple A (AAA) battery in it. So the stock Motorcraft was replaced. I have since replaced the AAA battery, with an upgraded one last June. So....yeah. Three batteries that I have know of.

Is there a write up anywhere on how to replace battery? I mean hooking it up is one thing but doing something with the kam and that battery saver cutout. Rather save some money and do it myself instead or paying probably over 300$ for the dealer to do it and complain about my straight pipes and whatnot

The one I just picked up they offered to put it in for me for twenty bucks. I politely declined.

I literally just replaced the battery, that is it. Drove to CA the next day.

Oh ok. I thought there would be some crazy method but then again the battery was out for awhile during the engine swap and no issues. Ill just look for a battery then. Any recommendations on a battery, or should i just match the oem one? Sorry for thread jacking

I replaced my battery about a month ago. Had a 2014 stamp/sticker on it. Replacing it was a breeze.
I did notice something though. When I removed the battery, I went and took it to Autozone (easy 10$ off) which is about 15 minutes from my place and got a new battery. When I returned and installed the new battery, my clock and all of you electronics seemed to have reset, which was no big deal to me.

The most peculiar thing I noticed was that after I swapped the battery, my idle was a lot smoother. Before, it was a little rough and the car would vibrate (nothing crazy, very minimal amount). Not sure if that reset the ECU, but I followed Ford's recommendation of letting it idle for a little bit, then taking it out for a drive.

No issues since, but I'm sure I'll be replacing it again in 3 or so years.

Odyssey if you want a mighty group 65. Otherwise any of the parts stores or Motorcraft will do. Optima is just as expensive as Odyssey, so might as well go Odyssey.

My tiny little 550cca Braille battery for weight reduction and forced replacement when my big boy kicked the bucket has been surprisingly kick ass this winter so far. Crazy cold starts even after a week of sitting she fires it right up. Honestly stupid surprised as I bought a tender to hook up and have only bothered to use it once

Age doesn't mean anything. When I bought my car they put a brand new motorcraft extreme in it. Just about 1 year later it lost a cell and I had to replace it

Finally sent my PTU and RDU gear oil samples out to Blackstone Laboratories today....the samples have only been sitting for about 3 months.....the samples have about 1000 or so miles on it.......but I would call that "Severe Duty" use from all the Drag Strip runs + GH Turbos and Nitrous as well as countless data logs. Although it's low miles it should be of high quality destruction...or lack there of....will find out

The fluid for sure looks clean. I think this will just be a baseline test, so that moving forward perhaps I can use it to compare and watch for increases in metal. So that hopefully, with severe duty/extreme maintenance I hope to determine if failure is immanent prior to experiencing failure. Fat chance right?

LOL! So.... just dipped so it can always be reversed and only 25 bucks or so to do it. I have done multiple colors on different cars and it just makes it easy to change up the look... But it definitely helps to overlook the idea that they look like a flower after doing it.

Installed new (Lincoln) outlet tube (p/n AA5Z-6F073-C), replacing the OEM SHO outlet tube with resonator box (or whatever that attached box is called.) (Thanks go to AutoNation Ford for filling the order quickly after two others accepted my order then informed me it was back ordered.) Easy installation, although reaching the lower clamp screw is a bit tight. I left the new MAP sensor in place -- visual difference from the SHO OEM MAP appears to give the sensor better exposure to the air stream. I'm interested to know if anyone knows if there is any meaningful difference in the OE 2011 SHO sensor compared to the newer Lincoln sensor.

Today, I did a Mobil 1 oil change a bit early, and sucked out as much fluid from the PTU I could with the brake bleeder. Turned out to be about 10 ounces. Very, very little stuck to the PTU plug.

I realize I'm being way over cautious with 4K oil changes...and doing the PTU at the same time....but it makes me feel better.

After what I saw the first time I did the PTU fluid...I'm wondering if the first time is more important...
