to get the car in the 11's won't take a whole lot more i don't think

does anyone know what the ratings are on a gt15??? how much should they be able to flow without overworking it

what would be the next step you think without going overboard???

In the turbo world, changing turbos is like changing cams in an n/a engine. The whole combination changes, and evrerything must be recalibrated. Everything is considered to be a bolt-on mod until you change turbos.

That said, I would personally rather see how far folks can go with the stock turbos. Changing turbos is like swapping out a 5.0 for a big block. Not something that most of us will do.

Same in the Subie world. There are folks who have changed their turbos in their LGTs, but running 12s with the 2.5 liter H4 seems to be as far as most folks want to go, myself included.

This car has 11's easy with some more bolt on parts.

You need quality catless downpipes (or high flow cats) and a good exhaust system. They all need to be mandrel bent and large enough diameter. Then you need to work on the engine with larger and better piping, along with a better intercooler. A tune to rework the engine for those mods and some lightweight wheels is more than enough to get 11's, and hopefully 110-115mph traps.

You don't even have max power out of your current setup, larger turbos wouldn't be my next step.

you'll ever go overboard with the engine , but you gotta begin thinking about the tranny , remember these trannies are only HD versions of SLOs. Just like the 93-95 ones. :swing:

Follow this! :)

But does the new SHO have a wastegate actuator? Or is it unnecessary to mess with because it's all PCM controlled boost?

Can you imagine being back in the mid 60s and talking about getting 400 hp out of a 200 cu in engine in a production vehicle! :laugh_ti:
Back then, there was no replacement for displacement.

I would say one thing that needs work on the EcoBoost is the intake piping going to and from the turbos. They have a bunch of dimples here and there to meet Ford's clearence standards. I think new smooth pipes with less agressive bends would go a long way.

Also I don't think the intercooler needs replacing because it's already pretty big. It's about the same area as the radiator, but it's just over an 1" thick. It's that thin in order to package in there because it's pretty tight as it is. I don't think there's much room for anything bigger (in area or thickness).

But does the new SHO have a wastegate actuator?

Yes, it has vacuum actuated wastegates.

All good ideas about uppipes/downpipes. I haven't looked at the intercooler setup, but to somehow get a bigger/additional one would help. Even with the less-than-optimal TMI (top-mounted intercooler) on my car, an aftermarket thicker one helps. Not sure I want to spend $700 for the aftermarket one, though.

I also suspect that the car can get deep into the 11s with stock turbos and bolt-ons.

i figure the stock turbos will be good to the 11's, thats why i was kinda curious if anyone knows what kind of rating they have

hopefully i'll get all the exiting stuff done in the next week or 2, then we just have to work on the intake system

curious if the stock wastegates will be adequate too???

The tuning on these cars will take along time to figure all out, lots of the tables are not named, Some of the colums have question marks. The data logging is all messed up! I was at 400% load the other day!!! lol

In years to come there will be bigger turbos added im sure bigger intercoolers ect ect after the cars become like the rest of the SHO's and cost a dime a dozen. The average person will not want to take a 40000 car and install bigger turbos.

Shit right now "people" are adding a few lbs of boost but no one knows how long it will last.

Yup ill post stuff when its available or if im just testing. But I have a shit load of other stuff going on, lots of plans just need time to get them done.

For sure we can make the car better (much better with a Tune and Exhaust) but Ive always said that making the car go fast is simple making the car stop is another. Ive already melted my front brake pads in testing 80-0 runs so after my tune is squared away im heading to the brake Dept..

Ill be testing some pads for somone in the next week or so and ive been working on the SS brake lines. Ill get the stock system better then over the winter ill get some huge brakes on for the track.
