Yesterday (sat 4th) my wife and I were driving our kids to separate activities, she in my silver 98 SHO, and me in a red BMW 535, and as we were getting onto the 210 freeway in the LaCrescenta/LaCanada area, we were merged right next to a pair of what looked to be heavily modded Gen3's. One Black, one Silver, both had dark tinted windows and tinted tail light covers, and both sounded mean as ****. I got a better look at the black one as I passed it, and noticed the Ford emblems were blacked out front and back. The black car had big 5 point star rims, and appeared to be lowered. I also noticed little emblems under the V8 badge on the side of both cars that I couldn't quite make out (looked like a **** leaf).

Anyway, if anyone knows these cars, speak-up, I'd love to know where they had their work done. Or for that matter, any recommendations in SoCal. I'm not a do-it yourselfer by any means, and although my father had his 95 worked on by the SHOshop in Newport Beach back when the original owner was still there, I wasn't impressed by the guy running it now, so I'm always keeping my eyes out for qualified SHO people in the LA area. I had to go up north 6 hours just to get the cams welded.

It was quite a sight to look over to the next lane and see these two hotted up SHO's and our bone stock SHO all in a convoy blasting down the freeway.

Thanks,
MT

Jose has a slightly modified SHO, and Nate has a mainly stock SHO. Both have an exhaust mod. Thats about it. They are great cars! Did they look something like.... This?

The "Old Man Tan" one is mine... it's a Sable BTW.

Also those badges under the V8 logo is Yamaha Logos.

Let me know, I can get them together for a little mini meet.

Jose has Baer Brakes, 17" wheels, Roush springs, chin spoiler, not sure what kind of exhaust he has right now, I think magnaflow mufflers  his old borla is on Nate's SHO. Nate's is pretty much stock except for the borla exhaust, Eibach springs, and tinted windows/lights. Both cars had their cams welded and full 60K type maintenance done by John.

Those are the ones!

Thanks, guys. I knew this was the right place. SHOcal.com? I hadn't heard of it. I'll check it out. If either of you have a number or email address for "Jon," send me a message.

Both cars sounded great, and I love those wheels on Jose's car. I gotta find some of those Yamaha emblems. Very cool.

While we're at it, anyone else in SoCal, post yer pics. I'd like to see my "neighbor's" cars, and what the possibilities for mods are. Anytime there's an LA area SHO gathering, put a up a post.

Thats right! You can take a look at all the cars there. We have some kick *** SHOs in SHOCal. From First Gens to Third, even a couple of Sables and Reg. Taurus. It's a great place to hang out, and the site isn't restricted to Cali SHOs either. So Join up!!

i've seen Jose's SHO at John Stoessel's house.
John welds all the Cams in SoCal. He also has done alot of Jose's mods.
John is "the mann" regarding SHO's (and Taurus-Duratec & 3.8L too!).

Winnetka isn't near Fallbrook (Temecula/Oceanside), is it?
I've got a '99-75K-BLK that i purchased from an old lady, it's flawless.
Got John to weld my cams, insulate the harness, new plugs/coils, flush the fluids. I'm currently having my tranny rebuild by a local who does Ford upgrades all the time. Getting a new valve body and shift kit put into it. It'll be sweet for $2K. It's only money...
Yes...John can change plugs/coils on a Duratec, and do all the necessary fixes for $$$ less than the stealer dealer.
He's great!!!
