Remember when i told yall about that SHO thjat was supposed to fix my headgasketts and ended up swapping out the oil so it wouldnt smoke anymore? Ok well ive been in battle with them for a while now, and the owner of the shop finnaly gave in. He said to give him the 8th VIN digit on my car, and "he'll take care of me some way or another".... so guys... the 8th digit?? Whats it mean, is any kind of scam gonna go on here?

I think the eighth digit refers to engine type. It can be a digit or a letter in that position. For example my eighth VIN position would be Y and it would state - 3.0L EFI DOHC, 182CID, 6cyl, Gasoline, Yamaha.

I work at an express **** shop in the woodlands, every time we get a new car we have to check the 8th VIN. It's the engine code, as far as i can tell, that's the way it you tell on all domestic vehicles. on Japanese vehicles, like honda's, you have to check the engine code on the block or someplace else under the hood.

The 8th digit is the engine code, 10th the year model. Start with A in 1980. The first digit is the country of manufacture. 1 & 4 USA, 2 Canada, 3 MEXICO, J Japan, Germany is V or W can't remember. Who cares about the rest of the countries....
