When are you installing the fs hpfp? Do you anticipate an increase in fuel rail pressure?

Pump should arrive on Wed. I have to get the new tune from Brad and we can start datalogging. The hpfp pump should let me run E54 straight out of the pump. My fuel pressure should stay stable and not have any big drops.

Will this allow for higher boost pressure and advanced knock? Or is it more of a overcompensation for safety and stability.

For all. I have boost issues. My stock turbos just don't hold the same boost as other stock turbos do across the rpm band. Brad thinks my turbos are worn out.

What is this FS HPFP? When I try to search for it it looks like it is an XDI but with a different sticker?

So you went with the FS HPFP almost entirely because of the price you got it at and the amount of use you have for the car?

I would never give LMS a dime of my money because of how they handled things with other SHO owners.

However I will give my money to a friend that is upgrading from that pump (which I know the history of) to a bigger one. That friend also gave me a really reasonable deal for the FS Pump. For the price, and because I don't drive my SHO daily, it is worth the risk of not spending the rest of the money I saved to get a Xdi.

Incoming Upgrade:

I have needed a HPFP for awhile now. I have tried every way to justify spending the money for a XDi. I have come close to purchasing one more times than I want to admit. However, I couldn't pull the trigger.

That being said. I know I will catch some crap for my next statement.

I recently purchased a slightly used FS pump. I weighed the pros and cons (they can attest to that) and for the price I couldn't pass on the opportunity presented to me.

What I took into account:

Yearly mileage of my SHO: Less then 4k a year (if that). I don't daily my SHO.
Mods: I have all of the supporting mods (minus turbos).
Single Fuel Source: I should be able to run straight E54 out of the pump. No more mixing, just testing.
Fuel Pressure: I won't have to worry about FP drops anymore (my stock HPFP recovers well). I still have boost issues, but this should basically allow me to pin the gates closed and let them eat.

I have only seen one documented FS HPFP failure (not all facts have been presented yet) and one with XDI. I know there are a couple of 11 second SHO's on the FS HPFP as well.

I will be removing my stock HPFP and vacuum sealing it. It will make its new home in the trunk with the exact tools needed to change it out. When I go on long road trips I will swap back in the stock HPFP and change tunes. When I get to my destination, the FS HPFP will go back and I will reflash the tune. Then the GAP band tour will begin.

I will modify the foam and engine cover as well. If I cant see it, then it isn't there? Correct?

Modify inline
FYI, the hard fuel line that outputs to the injector rail is technically one time use only. The service manual says to replace it every time.

That being said, when I installed my XDI60, I reused it, but it was a bitch to seal up. The flare fitting has a sort of "crush" seal face that is supposed to match up to a new pump. Anyway, just FYI...

Also, if you have a used HPFP, it might be worth sending it back to the manufacturer for a refurbishment and inspection. I also bought a used HPFP, but sent it back to XDI and they inspected and certified it. Charged me $100 but was good peace of mind. It was still cheaper than a brand new one.

Sounds about right. Neither is likely a manufacturer. Mostly rebranded items.
That's a good observation. I haven't verified this, but I'm pretty certain XDI does make their pumps though. I have a suspicion that most others on the market are actually rebranded XDI pumps, in fact.

Only reason I think this is because when I was talking to Uwe before I bought mine, he specifically said he will not sell you a pump if you state you are using @Livernois Motorsports as a tuner. Not sure if that is because he is not a fan either or if his pumps are being sold by them and doesn't want to have business conflicts. I don't know the voracity of this claim, however. But seeing as @Livernois Motorsports is famous for rebranding, it's plausible.

I emailed XDI about 3 years ago (Aug 2017) in interest of getting their pump after LMS released theirs, in hopes of getting a better price than LMS. I doubt LMS rebrands them because after a little back and forth, this is basically what was said:

"I tried to work with Livernois 2 yrs ago, didn’t work out.
Now we are competing. It is what it is.

Pricing is always a mix. It is not like in the old days, where you could bolt on power.
Especially with DI, every part needs it’s own tuning changes, even the pump.
Yes the pump has a retail price, but you need a good tuner that knows how to put it on and set it up in the software.
That’s why the tuners do package prices.

I cannot offer just my pump and then have you go to Livernois to get it tuned.
I don’t know what they do to it or if they really know what they are doing."

That is a big insight. Interesting to say the least.

Uwe is very selective with who he lets tune his pumps. Not sure if he is scared of LMS getting their hands on one to reverse engineer it, or if he just doesn't want liability of someone messes up a car by not knowing what they are doing.

Even when he did the bulk buy 6 months ago, you had to submit your tuner choice with your order or he wouldn't fulfill.
