anybody done this? I don't know what the deal is but the drivers side wiper only covers about a square foot of windshield that the other one doesn't get.

Probably some sort of failsafe set up. The driver's side wiper could do more if it were not shorter, but it is shorter because it would otherwise consistently hit the driver's side door.

I'd leave it alone.

I have a custom mono-wiper setup on my vw. Only took lengthening the arm on the back of the motor about 10mm. I can have it rest on the passenger side, driver side, or straight up the middle depending on where I bolt the arm down.

I don't think a SHO would look right with a mono-wiper.

It's cool.....for like 5 minutes. Most people don't even notice I only have one wiper doing my whole windshield.

I like the vw's but the vr6 has that issue with the length of the intake runners being that the ones closest to the rear have more heat as they are further back on the engine.
the Mercedes Benz is where I think the idea originated.
I noticed the passenger side on the sho is nearly impossible to see out of when it is raining and the driver side just about hits the pillar on the side of the windshield.
I am not sure about the alignment of the wipers but the passenger side comes up automatically and does not go all the way down unless the wipers are off.
just kinda hard to see with the aerodynamic shape of the car and all.

My '99 C280 has a single wiper. I find it more annoying that anything else. It also has its own transmission, major $$$ if/when it breaks.

I had a 2000 C230K also with the single wiper and I actually loved that design!
When I first got the car the wiper arm got stuck at lower speeds, but a little WD40 took care of that and it did an amazing job wiping almost all the windshield.
Sometimes I miss that car! :( (sold it to by my SHO)
