Should I send my car to the shop?

I had it in the shop a while ago because of poor performance. They repaced the crank position sensor and claim to have reset the timing, which was "60 ********." Before I was home from the shop, the performance was bad again. It's been getting steadily worse over the last few months since then. It has absolutely no power and runs and idles rough. It didn't throw any codes.
Any ideas?

I wouldn't take your car back to that shop....if they replaced that sensor because of poor performance - they don't know what's goin on - plus the timing is self setting on these cars. That sensor either works or it doesn't. I would be suspicous of 'crank cancer' though with them messing around down there. What is the history on the car...miles any 60k history? Are your plug wells full of oil (pull a spark plug boot out and check)? You might just need a good old tune up. Do you have a check engine light?

60 degrees ********? I doubt the car would even run that far off. What exactly is the poor performance? I'm wondering about a vacuum leak.

timing belt?

may just need a new timing belt. the timing on these cars is fixed, so whoever this mechanic is doesn't know what they are talking about.

It has 122k miles, I'm reasonably sure that the 60k was done at the dealership. I just replaced the plugs and the wells were clean. I keep wondering what the mechanic did that made it run beautifully for 20 miles or so. Would this be possible with a stretched belt?
How hard is it to pull the timing cover off and check the timing myself? I have a timing light.
