Should I have valve shim adjust. done now?

I currently have 71,000 miles on my black 93 SHO with the 3.2L. I recently asked my service manager if I should have this done, he looked at me funny and said that it doesn't need to be done till 100,000 miles, or is he just waiting something to break in my engine so I could put his kids through collage? any advice.........

well, different people will have different opinions. Most cars can go to 100k without serious negative effects. 100k is the official replacement point for the timing belt, so most ATX owners just push the whole valve shindig to 100k so it saves on labor.

The valve gap adjustment and spark plug change are scheduled on both the 3.2L and 3.0L SHO engines at the 60,000 mile mark. You should at least plan on replacing the plugs very soon as they are usually ready for replacement at 60,000. The factory setting of the valve gaps is usually good until 100,000 miles if you want to wait that long.

The timing belt replacement for the 3.2L is not required until 100,000 miles due to the superior design of the belt tensioning system. The belt change interval for the 3.0L is 60,000 miles.
