Should both halves of the rod bearing be the same part?

I just got a set of rod bearings from Napa ($45). They are 12 of the exact same thing. Each has the oil hole, and on one end a slight shear the creates a small tab. They are stamped on one end

I suppose an extra oil hole where there is no port in the journal (or are there 2 holes?) wouldn't hurt anything. Anyway, do I need 6 of a different half, or should I just go with what I have.

Yes, you will use 12 identical bearings.

You have the correct bearings. Even the factory bearings have the "extra" hole.
